Re: Starting / House Battery Charging Question

I like the idea of running it along the top liner. Thanks for all the effort you have gone to for this. I think I have just one last question. What did you use to determine the wire gauge? #4 seems a bit large, even if it is a 15' run but I'm no expert by a long shot. I tried looking up the amperage...

Re: Starting / House Battery Charging Question

Thanks Sumner, that is a TON of good information. I think I will go with my existing single deep cycle and just run some heavy wire back to the lazarette. If starting the motor takes too much of my current batteries power and leaves me short on power for the rest of the cruise, I will definitely con...

Starting / House Battery Charging Question

My older '90 Honda 8 hp outboard died the last week of the season so I need to replace it before the beginning of the 2015 season. Since my wife hates to pull start the motor we are going to spring for electric start. I like the Mercury 9.9 with everything from starting, to shifting, and throttle on...

Re: Aliases

Being a new to this sort of thing, I used the name of my boat when I joined. I bought the boat from a pastor in GA who had named it 'Heaven Bound'. I liked the name so I kept it. Not only does it describe my current status, it is how I feel when I'm out sailing so it fits perfectly. Actually, the us...

Outboard Gas Tank Question

I have been wondering about something for a while and really can't find any information on it. I have a Honda 8 HP outboard on my 26S which is always connected to the gas tank. When finished sailing for the day, I always close the vent on the tank to keep the fumes contained and prevent condensation...

Re: Boom Kicker installation

Hello, I purchased a BookKicker Model 500 back in December when they were on sale. The box has sat in my garage for the past 4 months. I went to look for the installation instructions and can't find them. I tried to click on the link above, however, that link is no longer working. Can anyone tell me...

Re: Wax time suggestions.

Collins Fleet Wax paste is the highest rated wax out there. Tried it last year and had people coming over and asking what I had used. Easy to apply and lasted all season. Took their suggestion to apply 2 coats to the entire hull, then a third coat around the water line. (North of the bottom paint of...

Re: Modifying My MRS - Should I Go With Line or Cable BStays

Thanks for your help. You saved me around $50 for the baby stays and related hardware. I will be buying the parts today from BWY. I could save a couple bucks buying them elsewhere, however, they have been very helpful, provided me with a drawing with all the dimensions and locations for installation...

Modifying My MRS - Should I Go With Line or Cable BStays?

The baby stays are a "guide", so some give shouldn't be a problem. Having said that, my X came with metal baby stays. If you have lines, I really don't see a reason to change them. 8) I have a 26S with the older MRS and would like to upgrade to the M style. BWY no longer sells the kit due ...

Re: Couple of questions

For the deck, use StarBrite Deck Cleaner with PTEF. That stuff is amazing. You hose down the deck, squirt some on cleaner on the deck, brush it around to completely cover the section you are working on, let it sit for a couple of minutes, do a little spot cleaning with the deck brush, then hose it o...
