Couple of questions

Post by bedouin »

Finally went out on my :macm: today, little cool out and then the fog rolled in but all n all got in about 45 minutes of good sailing.

I dock my boat here in Palma Sola Harbour Florida (south Tampa Bay) and while docked I have an Osprey that loves to sit on top of the mast and look for fish, eat his fish and then crap all over the Mac, bimini and sail cover.

What is the best way to clean the canvas?

And the best to clean off the stains on the fiberglass deck.

Also I have several rust spots that I would like to clean too.

Love to hear everyone's tips and tricks.

TIA

:D :D
We've used bright deck (i believe) it's supposed to be for the checkered decking, but it works everywhere really well. I'll try and confirm the name, leaves everything gleaming white.

For the deck, use StarBrite Deck Cleaner with PTEF. That stuff is amazing. You hose down the deck, squirt some on cleaner on the deck, brush it around to completely cover the section you are working on, let it sit for a couple of minutes, do a little spot cleaning with the deck brush, then hose it off. Your deck will be clean and look like you just waxed it! The more you use it, the easier it is to clean the poo stains. Since it's not wax, it is completely safe for the deck.

Raise a couple of bright colored wind whirls up to where it sits, that will scare the bird off.

Use the sperns that are used to defect lighting strikes. Next time you go by a lighted bouy marker ck out how the CG keeps them from landing on solar panels.
Owls and such is just a trick that no longer works, they now use them as landing post to crap on.
Birds like a horizontal landing platform/ or a vertical post to sit and crap on. Don't give them a choice. :)
Most Mac. boats have no cap on top of there mast. Birds grab to lip of the mast and crap, some even crap inside the mast. Use the lightning whips.
