Sorry for changing the subject there guys, it must have been the third Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster that did it!
I've been off the radar for a few days but now I'm back near civilisation for a spell so normal service will be resumed
Thanks for the input so far

Hey Tom There's plenty of room in Kiwi land, good standard of living and we very nearly talk the same language. We drive on the right side of the road, the left side that is, as driving on the right side is definitely the wrong side. Still with me? Well done that man. Blame the British (of which I a...

I see what you mean there Helaku and it's certainly worth considering except that a 50 hp Yamaha here can cost in the region of NZ13k or US$8k so it's really as broad as it's long. Also if I buy a boat that's already kitted out there's less hassle and cost for me to deal with getting a motor, gettin...

K9Piper many thanks for the info, very useful hints and tips, I owe you one, possibly a cold one if you find yourself down this way. Lease thanks for the tip on hjyachts. I'm not able to find a web presence for them just now. It may just be that my sheep powered ISP is not performing (which would be...

Another suggestion is to buy a boat....minus it's motor, much cheaper, and, you can easily get one in NZ, without paying the high fees for importing.....just a suggestion, anyway? That my friend is seriously using your noodle! You'd think so wouldn't you? The facts are that a basic spec 26m (and we...

As I understand it the duty is applicable at the port of entry as a fixed levy and has no relation to the port of origin. The exception to Duty is on goods that are your own personal posessions and have been so for (I believe) 2 years. Goods you have bought solely for import are always liable to dut...

Thanks for the thoughts so far. I agree that duties and taxes will be an issue for me but read on to see my rationale................ Firstly, secondhand (preloved don't you just hate that word?) 26Ms are almost unheard of here. Secondly, the basic maths is that a new 26m here costs just over US$550...

Thanks Aya, I'd love to sail it to NZ but what about the trailer, do you think it would create too much drag in the water? :D On second thoughts it'll be quicker and safer in a nice steel container. Once here it can sail the wonderful coastal waters and lakes of NZ. It sounds nice, just need to find...

I want one, I really want one!
Hi there I'm new here but I just thought I'd like to say hi and ask for tips or advice on buying a used 26M. Basically I'm in the USA in early June and during my stay I'll have lots of spare time. My intention is to find and export a late model 26M to New Zealand. Any information would be most welco...
