Re: Slip usage?
All of the above are worthwhile concerns. I'm at a public marina in Buffalo NY. Its a large place... maybe 700 slips of all sizes and types. I'd gauge it at about 85% motorboats. My biggest issue with marina life there is the loud drunks you may encounter, depending on location. I had a slip for a f...

Yeah, you wouldn't want to use any hip-hop or rap, or even disco CDs... too much moving around.Bill at BOATS 4 SAIL wrote:I think that what I use are called polyethylene fender washers.
I also think that CD's could be used, depending upon the type of music.

Re: Back in the water
I think if you are in a cooler northern climate, black sunbrella cushions are fine and work well. I'd be a bit more worried about using them in a hot, tropical climate like Ixneigh deals with. I'd also be more worried with any type of dark colored vinyl in a hot climate.

Re: Best way to shorten CDI furler?
I'm not sure you will need to shorten the furler foil that much, if at all. I haven't actually measured it, but I'll bet my rig has about 5" of play before it actually reaches the forestay hound. Once you have the new shorter stay, I would check before cutting anything. Other considerations: Yo...

Re: 96X ballast vent assembly
I never realized there ever was a second valve until your post. My
is year 2000. I had to do a double take after I saw the Pic from BWY. I felt better when I read it and saw it had been discontinued in later models.

Re: 26X Mast Rake
I replaced my standing rigging last year, all from BWY. I tried to set it up for the 4 degree recommendation, and I believe I succeeded. But in the marina, the rake is noticeably more than other boats (which look like they have no rake at all). My best guess is that it has about twice as much rake a...

Re: West Marine Price Matching
They tried this before a few years back and had to give it up. Can't see how they can do it with the overhead and taxes on individual stores vs. an internet store that doesn't have a lot of that, Sumner I think if they don't do it, they wont be competitive enough to stay viable. I'm not sure about ...

Re: Water system and advice on ways to cool cabin
The original freshwater system on a :macx: were pump faucets connected to supply bottles under the counters in the galley and head. The water is manually pumped using the pump handle on the faucet. I have an original faucet and supply pigtail in my junk box in the garage, but I do not have any water...
