Re: Winter storage in water
In the Lower Chesapeake with salt water, I don't think we would have the water freezing uniess it gets really cold... What exactly does a bubbler do? Does it cover the entire lower part of the engine? If I lower the engine with it still in the water I would also like to keep growth off the engine.

Winter storage in water
What are the concerns of leaving the boat in the water over the winter? I plan on flushing and fogging the engine before the cold sets in. We have a 26x with a 2000 Suzuki 4 stroke 50 HP. My plan was to leave it in the water over the winter. I will flush the engine with anti-freeze and fog the engin...

Re: Suzuki 4 50 HP 2000 temperature alarm codes
2BonC, Thanks for the reply,, I'm getting a steady temperature light on all the time, and the 1 second beep every 3 seconds. I will try your recommendation and see what happens. I think I'll get a Suzuki tech to look at it as well. The funny thing about it, was the engine was off at anchor, overnigh...

Suzuki 4 50 HP 2000 temperature alarm codes
Does anyone have any temperature alarm codes for a Suzuki 4 50 HP, year 2000 or 2001? This past weekend we were experiencing some problems with the engine - Saturday we set sail for Antidote on the Chesapeake. Winds died down, so at the Rappahanock River, we turned the engine on and powered around W...

Re: Installing furling genoa
My first bit of advise... don't cut any stays or shrouds. You should be able to install the furler without cutting your standing rigging. You can also Google CDI FF2 furler and find the installation manual online. Usually you would cut the long gray part of the furler (luff) to fit your head stay wh...

Re: What's with the boom vang?
I only have the "clam cam stopper" at the bottom of my boom vang. The line will reach back to about the back edge of the sliding hatch...I just let it sit there. So I climb up on top of the hatch to loosen when I get ready to raise the main...normally I do this while still tied up at the ...

Re: Further CDI furler questions
enufsed, Hey there,, Vizwhiz posted a good post with a link that shows the furler and luff support pin. It illustrates it very well. The little hole by his thumb is where the luff support pin gets inserted. According to him, you should also be okay without the band around the halyard. I was thinking...

Re: Further CDI furler questions
Hi rtrinkle. You wrote "There should be a pin with ring in the spool as well. This is a support for the lower edge of the luff, and keeps the luff from falling too far in the spool, and possibly spinning the forestay turn buckle." As simple as this install is, these words really give me a...

Re: trailer jack handle free spin
Wow,, so you all still had the wheel on the jack? Mine was busted off before we bought the boat, ( I have it resting on a 4x4 block) and the entire jack is frozen and rusted, except for the free moving handle of course... Works pretty good with the block of wood. I'm just glad it was raised high eno...

Re: trailer jack handle free spin
MIne was rusted and broken the same way when the boat was first purchased. I was thinking of just replacing the entire thing with a bolt on jack. Anyone hae any experience with this?

Re: Further CDI furler questions
I found the original manual stowed on the boat -- "CDI Flexible Furler 2" dated March 1998 -- and it referred to a "luff support pin" that I'm sure I'm missing and also recommend the use of toggles at the top and bottom of the forestay, which I don't think I'm using. The manual ...

Re: How do you transport your inflatable
West Marine had a quart of the Petit bottom paint for inflatables. I told them I could find the paint online for $38, and he dropped the original price of $80 to $40. Guess after shipping and handling form the website, I made out, except when it became time to paint 8) That paint settles quickly, an...

Re: Crazy 4th of July stories
I had some idiot cut me off by crossing my bow from port side. At night, we were navigating the channel and watching out for crab pots as well. The idiot came within 15 feet of us throwing his wake, and I guess his buddy in another boat pulled up right behind us, making the heave to we had to do to ...

Re: How do you transport your inflatable
Don't know if anyone has done this, but there also is anti-fouling paint to put on a rubber dingy. According to the write up, it will stay in place even if the boat is deflated and rolled up. Just as option, as we would like to leave the dingy in the water when tied up at the marina. http://www.jame...
