Re: Put a 26X on a 26M trailer?

I was the guy who borrowed Matt's trailer and it worked great for the X. The front bunk was perfect, but it did rest on the sides of the aft portion of the boat rather than the bottom. If I was going to keep it on the trailer or go a long distance, the center of the back bunk would need some shoring...

Re: Adios...

I will continue to lurk about on this board. I do believe I won't sail quite as often on the Hunter, though will spend more time on the water as the accommodations are a bit nicer. I'll miss leaving work early, sailing for a few hours, motoring to Anthony's, JFATs, Pizza Nova, or C-Level for happy h...

Adios...

Well, as a long-time lurker on the board who is now selling my 96X (see the classified ads on this site), I'd like to say thank you to all for the years of advice, ideas, cautions, and support you gave me (even if you didn't know it). The admiral wants a sailboat/condo, so we're purchasing a 2005 Hu...

Re: Boat trailer rental in San Diego

Catigale - Aye! All - got it covered - Thanks for the support! I did contact the MacGregor factory about a year ago and they confirmed the stock M trailer will work for Xs with minimal modification. I just really didn't want to drop a couple of big boat bucks for something I hopefully wouldn't use m...

Boat trailer rental in San Diego

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I'll give it a try... My MacGregor trailer rotted into a pile of rust and rubber about a year ago which has been fine since I keep the boat in the water. But now I'm in need of a trailer to pull my 96 :macx: out of the water and across town to an engine sho...

The BWY parts area works well with Firefox browser on Macs.

Re: Bad Mouthing the MacGregor

I've had my :macx: for 4 years or so now and have yet to hear a bad comment. We used to own a T@b travel trailer and we would have to post tour times for all the lookie-loos and it is similar for the Mac. Everywhere we go though, there is at least one person asking to take a look and learn more abou...

Venture Yacht Club of San Diego (a Trailer Sailer club) has a couple of Catalina trips planned this summer with the next one on July 22. I wish I could join, but have other obligations. Their website is: http://www.vycsd.com/

Re: good news for me!

We had a similar experience when we bought our 96X in 2007. We had been thinking about a Mac for years, but just couldn't afford one. One of my wife's friends had told her that they had a boat they wanted to get rid of, but she didn't have any details on it as she never liked the boat. One day we we...

Re: admiral advice needed ASAP

We did a couple of things. First, I let her man the helm. With a lot of close instruction and practice, she developed a sense of ease at the controls and became more comfortable with the characteristics of the boat. Second, we had new cockpit cushions made which keep her from sliding about when we h...

Steve,

If you want to make a trip to San Diego, I'd be happy to sail with you in my '96 :macx: .

Mike,

How was the sailing on Otay Lake? I live about 3/4 of a mile away, but never thought to try sailing on it?

Re: What are these brackets for?

Not sure what it is for, but I use the first bracket to hold the bungie that secures the swim ladder. The second bracket holds the brace for the mast when you have it down and there should be a reciever where the yellowed cover is that secures it with a screw. I think the 3rd has to do with the stee...

Re: Mac 26m/26x trailer question

The brakes on my old 1996 trailer have died and I'm researching options to repair or replace. I emailed Mike Inmon several weeks ago to ask if the 96X I have would work on the new M trailer. He replied: "Ok with some simple mods. Cost is $2,990 plus tax and registration". Hope this helps.

Re: Honda 50 carb issue?

I've had similar problems. The carberated engines really want to run full out, not idle around. I make it a point to try to run flat out at least 10 minutes prior to pulling into dock. Your other methods are also helpful. My recommendations (have worked for me in the past) are: 1) Run a fuel additiv...
