UFlex steering

Just completed the Uflex planetary steering system. It was quite a simple install, all you really need, that people might not have is a 3.25" circular bit. All told, the install took 1 hour 15 minutes and it's smooth as silk. I may have to take her back off the market... :) :) her steering has ...

Question for those who remember shopping for their Mac

I, unfortunately, have to sell my X. I do have it in the classifieds here but, have a question. When I took her out a couple months ago, I noticed the steering was very stiff. It had the original steering, so, i decided to replace. During the course of researching I realized I would be selling her. ...

Re: How Secure Mac 26X on Trailer in Hurricane?

I strapped her down to the trailer, no ballast, pulled the Dodge 1500 along side and strapped it to that. It seemed to work as there was very little movement from the boat and having the truck alongside seemed to help disapate(sp?) some of the winds and keep them from getting under the boat...

Re: gear shift cables kaput

I just replace my shifter cable, but, on a Tohatsu. It's not hard at all, total time, 2 hours start to finish. The numbers of the cable were about halfway down, as K0kampers said. Do not throw the old one away until you get the new one as you will need the end pieces...Good luck

Any X owner in the RI area? Need help tuning

I don't think my tuning was ever set up right. I've always had to use mast raising gear to get enough tension to pin front stay. I loosened side stays today and that helped, but, would love to have an experienced owner swing by and check it for me. Can pay, gas and beer... :) :) I'm afraid that I ma...

Re: Stern Seats

another question for Art....what are the chances for making seats for our X's? I would imagine the market would be good for a limited run. I just don't see spending the big dollars the other place is charging...and sorry to jump the thread, the question just kinda popped into my head...

Re: Blue hull verses white hull

well, just be prepared to say that a lot as the old blues need as much encouragement as you can give them to keep up to the much faster white hulls... :o :P :)

Re: Are Boomkicker useful?

I put a boomkicker on, adds about 5 mins to the setup. It's nice to keep the boom up, but, as far as sailing, I'm still too new to know if it helps. I'll be hanging one of those lines from the back stay this year. The boom will still tend to swing side to side, even though it is supported, so that b...
