CT/NY Mac Owners
Are any of you from CT? I sail my 26M on Long Island sound out of Milford CT. It would be nice to meet up with some other local Mac owners sometime.

Hi. I'm not an owner but edging that way. Would be sailing from Madison, CT area. May I ask where you bought your boat and how you would rate the experience? I am just beginning the due diligence process and any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Gazmn lives in Bayside Queens. I'm sure he is accesable to the Sound. Check in the members area under "G". He is on the first page.

ksatterlee,
We'll be mooring our 2001
"Reiki Wake" to a municipal mooring in Milford Harbor this year. We trailered it all of 2010, and I think we saw you at the town ramp back in September (with your Dagger board?).
In a couple of months, we'll start prepping for spring.

Re: CT/NY Mac Owners
Yo, yo, yo!
"Sub" Ed here!
Though I'm currently at a town Marina on the SOUTH shore of Long Island, I believe my 10 year wait for a slip in Mt Sinai (north shore) (2 NM east of Port Jefferson) is up this spring per a letter I received last month from the Town of "Crook"haven.
With that hope in mind I have JUST finished using "POLAR NAVY" Charting software to map Way-points and Routes for Long Island Sound to xfr to my Garmin 541s. Here is the Google Earth File LAIKA: Long Island Sound 2011 if you're curious, be advised the LIS numbers come from the Maptech Charts' Way-point Identification, so if anyone wants to xfr them for personal use, do so at own risk! Really hoping that slip becomes available!!
I would have Milford CSE 358T 13.5NM, I do like Black Rock btw, use to make landfall there with my Bristol.
Madison at 053T 29.5NM. Looks like a nice stopover before the Connecticut River.
Really want to hit your coastline. On this side, not much to my EAST until Mattituck, then Orient. My west has more to offer, Port Jeff, Huntington etc.
Do I sound excited? YES!! I've been waiting 10 years to sail along side another Mac. Those I saw in my local waters (3....maybe 4) are either NOT on this board, or remain in "lurking" mode. I even left contact information, but was ignored. Unsociable?
Maybe it's "me"??
Anyway, I really look forward to catching up with other Mac owners in real life sometime in the future.

Well, technically, I'm neither, but,RI is pretty close...Even though my boat is currently up for sail(sp?
), I'm in no rush to sell and am looking forward to some spring sailing in Narragansett Bay, so, if I still have my boat, feel free to look me up if you head up the Bay!

Re: CT/NY Mac Owners
It sounds like we're starting to create a Mac Flotilla in the Sound.
We sailed over to Port Jefferson back in September (about 13.5 NM to the outer buoy from Milford), nice stay at Danford's Marina (nearly run down by the PJ/Bridgeport Ferry, though).
With our boat now at a mooring, we're expecting to do much more sailing, with some more extended trips (Block Island might be a 4 day round trip).
Come spring, we need to set a meet-up at sea.

Re: CT/NY Mac Owners
We hope to be up there either late spring or summer for a short period. I have a sister in Cos Cob/Greenwich and her boys have a small open power boat there. They told me the other day that they have a 24 foot slip we could use, but that might not work. I'd just as soon anchor out anyway and there seems to be a lot of places there to do that.
After going back to Florida in the spring we hope to tow the boat up there and either sail then if we aren't too tired or go home for a while and return. The only problem with that is the expense of flying back home and the fact we want to fly as little as possible after the trip home the other day.
So at the moment we don't know what we will do. We would like to spend at least a week or two there and then go down through NYC and up the Hudson and across the Erie, but there again we might not finish all of that. Looks to be over a 500 mile trip from her place to Buffalo via water. At 5-6 mph that will take a while.
My Nephew said that there are a number of ramps around him where we could launch and they have a place to keep the Suburban/trailer until we need that again.
It looks like a great place to sail and I've heard nothing, but good things about it.

Re: CT/NY Mac Owners
SCORE!!! Need to make it a "Paper" Yacht Club exclusive to Mac's! Non-Mac's need NOT apply!!It sounds like we're starting to create a Mac Flotilla in the Sound.
We can always meet halfway. I plan to finally make Block this year, certain personal obligations permitting of course (family....pfffffft). Even Mystic is a viable option as well.Well, technically, I'm neither, but,RI is pretty close...Even though my boat is currently up for sail(sp?), I'm in no rush to sell and am looking forward to some spring sailing in Narragansett Bay, so, if I still have my boat, feel free to look me up if you head up the Bay!

Once the NY/CT/RI/LI Sound Flotilla/Yacht Cub is launched, we need to start selecting Rendezvous destinations, Races, and the first annual Macgregor 26_ Around The World Clasic
