Re: Repairs Needed?
I'm trying to determine whether the water pump is functioning adequately, regardless of the schedule provided by Tohatsu and independent of the recommendations of the Tohatsu service shop. Your answer seems to depend upon the Tohatsu recommended schedule. In other words, what signs or temperature re...

Repairs Needed?
I have a 26M (about 6 years old) with 50 Hp Tohatsu 2-cycle engine. Sadly, I have not been able to get the boat out out for some time (probably over 7 months), and it has been "resting" in the marina. I have no valid excuse for not taking it out, but I have been involved with lots of other...

Very nice snap-snap-wink-wink Hart. Beautiful colour sat indeed. Courtesy of the new job Ive been spending every fourth week of the month in Paris - and on down time managed to hit the Orsay, the Rodin, and the Louvre (or parts thereof) :D :D :D What a job! Does your company need any more help? If ...

Re: About to pull ther trigger on a 26m
I have a 2004 M with most of the accessories mentioned above (RF, lines led aft, chart reader, etc.). Surprisingly, the one I have appreciated the most is the autopilot. - I have the Sports Pilot Plus, which has been very reliable. It's a great convenience when sailing solo, or when you want to go b...

Re: Shift/reverse lever binding- Advice, please.
The two black cables are probably the Electric wiring and the fuel. The two red cables are probably the Throttle and F-n-R shifter. Take the cover off the motor. move the console throttle handle and you will see the cables inside the motor controlling the forward-Nuetral-Reverse linkage, and as you...

Re: Shift/reverse lever binding- Advice, please.
Hi Jim, Besides lubricating, check the entire length of the cables for kinks/bends. Once for me, (after adding a new quick-connect linkage), the cable got bound on the steering bar under the cockpit. I had left a little too much of the cable pulled out into the transom. Of course, it bound on a har...

Re: Current thinking on Autopilot for 26M?
Hi all I'm starting to think seriously about an autopilot for my 26M (circa late 2006/early2007 model) and wondering what the current collective wisdom suggests might give the best value for money. I'm currently thinking about a Raymarine SPX Wheel Pilot. Any thoughts about suitability, performance...

Re: Dealer in Houston,TX
The Houston area MacGregor dealer is: Sailventure, Inc., 1018 South Business Hwy 146, Baytown, TX 77520. The manager/owner is Lance Beauchamp, (281) 334-1312 or (281) 334-2727. However, my experience recently is that the Sailventure dealership is often closed, and their phone isn't always answered, ...

Shift/reverse lever binding- Advice, please.
I have a 2004 M with the Tohatsu 50hp TLDI (2-stroke). The motor has been very reliable, starting instantly and shifting easily. Recently, however, I notice that it seems to bind or "lock up" in the neutral position such that it is difficult to shift into forward, and particularly difficul...

Outboard Maintenance
What maintenance procedures do most sailors follow for outboards with medium or low usage? For example, I have a 2002(?) 50 hp Tohatsu (two-cycle low pressure), which has had light usage and still runs fine (starts quickly every time), but I haven't taken it in for maintenance or lower gear lubricat...
