Re: 1996 Evinrude 50hp Prop Pitch Question
Just wanted to update where I was at with my prop situation, which I'm still having problems with. Well I got my local dealer to get me a 13x11 prop, and when I got it home and went to put it on I noticed that it was the wrong shaft size, it was too small, like it was for a smaller motor like a 10hp...

Re: Attaching rope to centreboard
I believe it's just a knot that holds it. See the url below for a lot of photos showing the centerboard taken out of an X for repair... http://www.geocities.com/mac.1948/cbxrepair.htm ModsNote by FC: Yahoo (Geocity) has very low bandwidth limits permitted for their photo hosting, so the link above i...

26X Mast Support Roller
I did a search but could not find anything relating to my dilemma. I have a 96 26X and for the first time had a friend help me raise the mast on my 26x and what I notice was the biggest challenge was getting the mast slid back on the mast support from the front trailering bolt to where it bolts to t...

Re: 1996 Evinrude 50hp Prop Pitch Question
Well I didn't get the boat in the water until today and as I suspect based on comments the prop is definitely too high of pitch. With WOT the engine was only revving just a tad over 3000rpm and got me about 13mph. Based on the 6000rpm WOT spec that evenrude told me it should rev at it's prop shoppin...

Re: 1996 Evinrude 50hp Prop Pitch Question
I called Evinrude directly today and they told me that my motor at WOT should be 6000rpm, or close to it.
I'm putting the boat in the water today so will see what this 13x9 does at WOT and go from there.
Thanks for all the comments thus far...

Re: 26X Cabin Leaks from Rain
Just a followup post to let everyone know that I did get all the leaks in my cabin fixed. I took off all 4 rail posts and put a generous amount of 3M 4200 on and then screwed them back down nice and tight and the 4200 seeped out the sides and after it dried not more rain coming inside under the post...

Re: 1996 Evinrude 50hp Prop Pitch Question
Just a follow up to this. I called Macgregor head office just now and asked what they thought about the prop pitch question and he seemed to think a 13x11 would be more appropriate for this engine on the 26X. So the more people I talk to it seems they agree the pitch on this prop now is way to high...

Re: 1996 Evinrude 50hp Prop Pitch Question
Thanks for the comments. I called my local evinrude dealer and he seemed to think the 19 pitch seemed really high as well. More like 11-13 is what he thought would be about right for the boat with that engine. He compared it to a 24ft pontoon boat having a 50hp evinrude on it and it would have a 11-...

1996 Evinrude 50hp Prop Pitch Question
As I've mentioned before I picked up a 96' 26X recently and it has a 1996 Evinrude 50hp outboard on it but the aluminum prop has some dings in it and I want to put on a new prop because of this. The prop that is on the motor now shows as 13 x 19. Does anyone have any idea if this is the proper recom...

Re: Mold / Mildew on Silicon Sealant in Cabin
Thanks, I had not though of trying bleach. I will give that a shot and report back. As for the use of Silicon on the boat, I'm just assuming it's silicon. It could be some other form of caulking. Also I think this is put in when the boat came from the factory, so you'd think Macgregor would know the...

T-Nuts with wood blocks
I'm in the process of fixing the leaks inside my cabin where the rain is coming through the bolts that mount the stern rails. I notice that Macgregor used wood blocks with T-Nuts that the bolts screw into. Since they have been leaking for quite some time the wood blocks are just about toast and the ...

Mold / Mildew on Silicon Sealant in Cabin
My 1996 26X I picked up recently had been leaking around the rail fitting bolts for quite some time and therefore every time it rained water got inside the cabin and with the cushions inside you can image that it was quite a cleanup job inside. I have all the mold/mildew cleaned up except for the wh...

Spudz, I noticed that you had a lot of "views" of your post but no "reply's" as of yet. So here is my $.02 worth. First, do an "advanced search" (link in upper right corner of window) on "cabin leak". This will give you 83 posts with those two words. In the r...

26X Cabin Leaks from Rain
I just picked up a 1996 26X and there it really needed a good cleaning as there was mildew inside from moisture. Found out that's because it has been leaking when it rains. The rain seems to be coming in where the 4 bolts hold the main rails on at the front and back. My question is what is the most ...
