Re: Hunters Version of the Mac26

From what 'boating atlanta' told me...they had to cut production in half or put scrubbers on their smoke stacks
so i guess cut in half was the better option. They were releasing to much junk into the air.

disconnect motor

Does anyone have any experience in disconnecting the motor and keeping it centered and just using the ruders for steering? Does this make steering any easier?

Re: Mac 26M Steering

I spoke with Blue Water Yachts, they told me my steering problem is most likey the rack and pinion steering.
Early 2003 models were not all stainless steel, she said there is most likely a part that has corroded and i will
need to replace the rack and pinion steering. NIce!! :x

Re: Mac 26m steering

i usually notice the problem going slow with rudders down. like pulling into the slip, or getting around the marina. When going fast with rudders down or up i dont have too much problem. I bought this boat used and it had been stored for several years. So i will look at the cables and make sure noth...

ModsNote: Directional control is a frequent complaint about the powersailers, mainly due to their flat-bottomed ...

note to self: make sure all rigging is clear from the stanchions when raising mast...and if the mast seems like it too heavy while raising it...stop cranking and find out why. I had a cable wrapped around a stanchion and kept cranking...even though it was difficult and bent the mast right in half. :?

yes it will and did...i guess another lesson learned in the school of hard knocks. seems like evertime we set sail we have an incident. i am seeing there is a large (expensive learning curve) to sailing. All i can hope for now is that insurance will cover this. i should have named the boat "Shi...

Does anyone know if the Macgregors have problems with blistering if left in fesh water? i know the algae and slime would be a problem, but i read an article where some boat manufactures are more prone to blistering than others.
