It was too cold for the Admiral, so most of the time she stayed below deck to keep warm. She said heeling at 40 degrees below deck is not as scary as it is in the cockpit.

Afterwards, we de-rigged the boat in preparation for taking her out of the water Tuesday evening. From here on in I have to listen to the California and Florida crowd tell of their wonderful sailing trips Oh yes I forgot those down under who are now coming up on Summer. You did have to read about our fun didn't you. Your stories will get we who live in the northern sections of North America through the winter

First outing for the season next weekend. Tuesday is a public holiday, so everyone takes Monday off to make it four days.

We'll be doing the regular November cruise in company with our club. These cruises are fun. Usually do a morning cruise and stop somewhere for lunch, then do an afternoon cruise to the overnight stop. Five oclock is happy hour when everyone sets up chairs and each boat brings a plate of nibbles, plus their own drinks. Very social.

I thought last Saturday was my last day sailing, but I went yesterday since boat was still in the water and it wasn't too cold, only 48 degrees, and because 10-20 mph winds were forecast, figured why not go again. Was well worth it. Single-handing as usual. Wind really piped up, though, had to be 25 mph sustained at times. Was fully canvassed the whole time was fun, clawing into that wind on my way back to port. Great time was had. I've gained worlds of experience single-handing for the first time this season. Not single-handing would have meant doing less than half the sailing I actually did. I think I may prefer it now.

Mine comes out Tuesday...

Am already planning some layup projects...

But until May I'll be "California Dreamin -- on such a winter's day..."

Bayside is about 20 mins hwy driving from Astoria. My marina is on the Queens side, 3 miles South of the Throgs Neck Bridge, at the bottom of the Long Island Sound in Little Neck Bay. It would take our boats about 60 minutes at WOT to motor from under the Throgs Neck on the East River, past Rikers Island [prison] down to hull Gate, which is where the Triborough Bridge and Astoria is. Wait for the right tide to speed up the journey.

We're for all intents & purposes neighbors

If you come down next season, look me up. There are 3 's & 2 's in Little Neck Bay.

Last Sunday it hit 80 degrees (in western NY !!!), sunny, with a rock-steady 15 knot wind - PERFECT! Without question the finest sailing day I had all year, and probably in the last 3 years!!

But then last night we had the first frost of the season, so I guess I am taking a day off work tomorrow to go and take her out of the lake

On the upside, it looks like I've found a nice, dry barn near my house that has room for my boat through the winter, so at least the winterizing work this year will be much reduced

ill have one more river trip before i start the winter mods projects then again i might just go for a xmas cruise too

For me it was the storage guy. He left a msg on the machine saying "doors open Fri and closing soon, better get her in before the doors close"

Don't want to mess with the storage guy, too good a deal going there.
