Loose Window Screws

I just completed a mod to add curtains for my wife. The rod brackets used the same machine screws that hold the windows in. Once the white covers are removed and the nut is off you can remove the clear backing plate and then attach the brackets.
I was suprised to find that almost every nut was loose. Macgregor used the poor mans lock nuts (No nylocks here), they put on the nut then cut the screw to bugger up the threads and keep the nut from backing off. Everything still seemed well sealed with the black caulk and I haven't had any leaks, but it would seem like this would be something to check every now and then.
I had my son outside handling the screwdriver while I did the inside nuts and brackets. The best thing was while we were doing the curtains, my wife was under the boat on a creeper waxing the bottom. What a deal.
