parking on front lawn

Hi,
Any of you have the following experience?
Parking on the front lawn... is is possible to drag it on and off the curb with the help of a temporary/removable ramp? If so, what did you use for the ramp. Also, after a rain, do you have trouble with the boat sinking into the mud and getting stuck? Do the neighbors complain to the city about it illegally parking on the lawn or decreasing the property values with an eyesore? What about the lawnmower man accidentally damaging it with his weed whacker?
I am currently parking it on a storage lot, but I'm looking to save a couple of bucks by parking it on my front lawn.
Thanks,
tomasrey88.
P.S. I do not want to park it on my rear driveway as the wife will probably run over the mac 26 on her way into the garage as she is a very bad driver. There's already left a 2 inch deep bumper mark where she ran the car into the wall dividing the garage from the kitchen. I also do not want to park it on the street front curbside as the drunk neighbors once ran over my parked car there once. This only leaves parking it on the front lawn....

I would park it on a neighbor's front lawn if I were you because, yes, it will leave ruts after a rain

Got our boat in October and after the 3rd pull in/out I was down to the tire rims. Put in cinder blocks called 'turf stone'; they're 16"x24"x3.5" blocks that have a diagonal lattice pattern to them. Within the lattice, grass can still grow, so the will be semi-camoflouged (sp?). Our neighbour wasn't keen on the idea of taking out part of the hedge to allow us to tuck it back beside the house, so it's sitting just of the front corner. Our plan is to moor it come mid April anyways, and we can leave our trailer at the marina for that time.
Regards,
Shane

I would love to park mine on the front lawn but that would involve moving some cars I have up on blocks and my dogs.

More & more cities are adding appearance and parking controls to maintain the orderliness of neighborhoods. Can't see what your place looks like now, but can't imagine the boat would be an improvement.
I'd let the wife park on the front lawn & keep the boat out back.

Yes even without rain it will in short time "sink"
No I can not imagine the city allowing you to park a vehicle in your front yard. Certainly not a 26' Sailboat well not for more than a few hours.
I park ours next to the garage on a stone pad and my garage is aprox 200' from the curb and though yo can see the boat its imho not obtrusive .

I can't even legally park mine in the driveway. I can have it on the street, but only for less than 24 hrs. There is even a restriction about how many times a month I co do that...
Other parts of the KC metro area are much more permissive, at least apparently so, as I seen all manner of boats, RVs, etc. parked in the grass on the side of the house, in driveways, etc...
So, I imagine the answer depends on your local ordinances. The best thing to do is to drop by the police station and ask them. They may not have the answer, but should be able to tell you where to get the answer.

Good points. Do you think my mast raising system could be used to raise some of the engine blocks I have on the lawn?

The neighbors will hate you.
decreasing the property values with an eyesore?
How so? It is an object of beauty (like a woman) it can only increase property values.

Wow! what part of communist Canada do you live in?
Actually the Mayor tried to introduce a bylaw regarding trailers here and almost faced a lynch mob, thousands showed up at city hall to protest so the motion was not even tabled, they backed right off. Every other driveway has a boat, motorhome or travel trailer of some sort in it but it does not depreciate property values but instead represents the income level of residents. We'd hang any politician that tried to take our toys away! Mine sits to one side in the drveway with a cinder block under one wheel close to the neighbors fence and I took the hedge out since I planted it. Yes it looks big as life and tends to overpower the house but if you don't like how it looks don't look at it, focus your eyes elsewhere and learn to live and let live. I can't stand those individuals who try to impose their ideals on others and get bylaws passed that infringe on the freedoms of others, if they don't like the laid back country living where folks park the toys they bought with the fruits of their labour then they should move back to the city where they have those stupid bylaws. We don't want those people here and if it were up to me they'd be bannished yesterday. As a compromise I park the boat in the driveway and put the cars on the street.

Another reason to move to Australia - big blocks of land with plenty of room to park the mac (probably fit 50 in my back yard, with plenty of room left over). Combined with the all round sailing, no GWB and a dollar that keeps going up. MOve now before the dollar gets to high.
