Any takers for some gunkholing on the eastern baja coast?

I hope to head south from Tucson May 2 or so.

Goodlooking, able Mac 26x looking for similar ship for crosspeninsular fling.

I will certainly think about this trip. I was just down to San Felipe and the water there is gorgeous, even if the tides are dangerous. I would very much like to take my Mac further south, but the road south down beyond SF is horrible now - - - but I loved the Sea of Cortez. I am considering retiring late next year to La Paz with the Mac and a motoryacht.

I don't like Hwy 5 south of Mexicali at all ... way narrow, no shoulders, and on top of a levee. 12-foot-wide Corona trucks in 12-foot-wide lanes! Yipes!

The freeway from Nogales to San Carlos is much safer, and there are scant tides at SC.

Plus, the Sonora Only permit at km 19 on Hwy 15 is easy and cheap, no bond to post.

However, a private company is building a new toll road next to 5 from Mexicali to San Felipe starting later this month and it will be done in a year. It will be similiar to the road from TJ to Ensenada. In my opinion, when that is completed, San Felipe will become the next boom area in Baja.

No kidding?

Those private roads are the only things that every get built quickly in Mexico, it seems like.

Late June will be hotter than Hades. Early May will be 90 plus.

Late July = thunderstorm season.

When we were just down there sailing at Thanksgiving, we met an American couple that now have a house and their boat in San Carlos. They warned against June as there is a mass of Jellyfish in June that can make your life pretty miserable. They also said the Bees are terrible in June and anything you have with fresh water on it gets attacked.
