I'm missing one of what I will call the "rubber accordion-grommet", for lack of a better term, on the steering of my Mac (see pic below for what I'm lacking). Anybody know where to find one? Bill, do you know?

Kevin, with a little coaxing..... you can fit on the replacement boot used for your Dico 6000 trailer brake.

IT comes standard with the rebuild kit for the Dico surge brake. Dico might sell it separate, I used cable ties to hold ends in place.

I searched high 'n low for something similar, intending to weather-seal my autopilot's connection to the 26X's steering draglink (on portside instead of starboard). It might require some creative adaptation, but look in your local autoparts store for an aftermarket shifter boot, Kragen in my area. Depending on their parts selection, it might cover the entire contraption. Mine was only ten bucks.

When I need stuff that is sort of hardware but not the kind in the local hardware store, I look at these places:

They are too big for me to take the time to find out for you if they can provide your booty. If you can't find it on the web page, call customer assistance and they might be able to find it or make it.

Stop by the Harley dealership and look at the boot for the rear brake master cylinder.

That's a possibilty, Robert, but those are 1-foot long and kinda expensive. However, your post led me to this page, then Search on Bellows where there are "Cuff End/Flange End" boots that look to be the right article. Thanks!

Just remember if you find an British source that piece is called a 'trunk' in English-ese..

Kevin - Billy Rae (the preachers son?) inspired me to note that a bicycle inner tube can be used to fab this bit on the cheap...you could protect more than just the end of the works too...there is a picture in one of the recent threads..

Yeah, that's actually what prompted me to get back onto finding this piece, Stephen. (In fact, the pic I used, above, is a snip from his photo!) I suppose I could use inner tube, but it would be hard to get it to accordian in such a small space - not sure I can see how to make it extend beyond the bracket?

LOL!!! It took me several minutes to work this one out and you will have to forgive me but I could not help but laugh when I did.

We call the space at the rear of a motor vehicle, where one puts luggage, etc. a " BOOT" Now you call it a "TRUNK" With me so far............

The item being referred to spongy springy black concertina thingy....We actually call a "BOOT"

Well you did well to get it in a few minutes...it took me two working days to think it up, charging it to Finance of course...
