As a new member of the Mac Sailors forum and a occasional contributor to the "Mod Squad" I am forever fascinated with the ideas and ingenuity dispayed on your pages. I counted 9 mods I have installed, admittedly the less expensive ones and more in mind when my money is not so funny. Wondering how many mods other Mac men have.

My response to Chips query below on edit is: I consider anything I've bolted to the boat that wasnt on it when I got it and not available as a factory option. ie: upgrades.

What constitutes a mod is pretty subjective. If I install it myself I guess it must be a mod, but what if I had the same thing done by the dealer on my new boat as purchased? Is it only a "mod" if you have to Dremel or drill holes, or does (for example) replacing the stock ring ding shackles with snap shackles count? If they count, does replacing the mansheet, halyard and mast raising shackles constitute one mod or three? I've got flag halyards on the mainmast, spreaders and topping lift. One mod or four?

Etc.

Even if you don't count all the extras which were on the boat when you bought it, depending on your definition I'd still suspect there are quite a number who could legitimately claim 50 mods, maybe even 100.

Kinda complicated as to what is a mod but here goes.

1) Cut the seat back and removed the hinge, added a seat board.
2) added foot treads to the swim ladder
3) added internal steering wheel.
4) added a bar sink and pressure water
5) added a fuse panel.
6) added autopilot
7) installed 2 of those handy little Neptune gas tanks .
8) Installed head nicrovent
9) Added stealth VHF, compass, GPS, Stereo
10) Cut the stitching on the mainsail luff rope
11) beefed up the aluminum rudder heads.

14) inverted V with triple block and fiddle blocks to replace old mainsheet arrangement.
15) replaced both sails.
16) rod rack along port rear berth
17) installed wood table in front of galley
18) Extra SS dock cleat
19) rocker stoppers
20 Installed then removed Origo alcohol stove
21) removed head door and installed SS grab bar over doorway.
22) fishing pole holder
23) Put a double bulb stern light on pole mounted on rail.
24) 4 12 V plugs installed.
25) smart charger and 2nd battery
26) el cheapo blue water jug from walmart.
27) 12V fans
28) multiple interior lights, ship's clock and barometer.
29) removed perko deck plug and replaced with 5 cent wire nuts and a 5200 seal job on new wires to the mast.
30) anchor light at top of mast, with switch by the compression post.
31) wood shelf with rails and magazine rack installed by dinette table, and oak table top which is pretty much kept in the down sleeping position, with new cushion.
32) replaced index shroud adjusters with turnbuckles and reduced mast rake.

33) added big metal fuel filter, and 3 way valve, and new automotive fuel hoses, with 2 primer bulbs (one on each tank.)

34) put a furnace vent pipe over galley and designed a small heater.
35) removed the companionway step and replaced it with a simple board.
36) Cockpit table
37) bungee rudder kickup

I think that covers most of the mods on mine.

By whatever definition,
many of these mods are extensive ...
some are just parts added, some changed.

Oh, and you can count me in for about 20 - with more coming when the season ends.

It just sounds like a lot when you put it on a long list. My mods pale in comparison to some others. Duane Dunn for example has his on his web site and its a much longer list.
