Just back from the storage lot at Channel Islands Harbor....bad news....the lift is broke just in time for the weekend. Hope to have parts late tommorrow .
Lowered the mast and a spreader broke off. The other side was scored and cracked almost thru....I think someone posted some SS replacements????

LIFT...the crane that lifts the boat in the water! That would be BAD!

i understand now.
capn. steve edited the typo for me.
i initially thought something on the left side of capn. steve's Mac was broken.
well, at least it's not something to worry about.
you can always launch at the ramp.

your right, Bobby...I made the edit. Well with the loss of 2 spreaders, I towed the boat home and will install the GPS today. Did a search and will order a set of reinforced spreaders from boatbimini.com

wow, i really mis-understood.
so he broke the lift and your Mac?
what's the deal with "reinforced" spreaders?
i can pick spreaders up at the mac factory from "cash-only" Bill for you. i'll be in "the O.C." next Wednesday.
they're $25 each and include the ends.
shipping would be about $10 (i guess).
let me know...

Personally, I'd rather a $25 part fail than shift the point of failure ot something else, that may be MUCH more expensive... If it we me, and I could get to the factory, I'd probably just buy 4 and toss the spare two under the rear berth, or wherever...

Thanks, Bobby. I ordered the spreaders this morning as well as the new dodger. Spreaders 47 bucks...I got to drill the 2 holes.

Couldn't have said it any better.
Except that, with (it appears) nine years on the original set of spreaders, I'd save the $47 on the spares for under the rear berth, where they're likely to stay for a very long time, and spend it for something more likely to fail.

Steve, a wood dowel from HD slides in perfectly inside the spreader tube for more strength.
PVC also works and may bend better inside the SS spreader tube.
I have had a wood dowel inside of mine for years now.
Make sure to ream the inside of the spreader holder on the mast with emery cloth to remove any burrs or ridges. This is what caused the problem in the first place. It scores the spreader tube and then it snaps.
