For you boat plumbing specialists

Post by nnelson1 »

My Mac.Ven 222 has an interesting contraption under the cockpit that, perhaps, you can help me figure out what it is supposed to do.

On the stern, below the water line almost to the bottom of the boat, is a thru hull. This thru hull is connected to a seacock (which is closed) and a 2" diameter hose comes out of that and goes into the scupper compartment. There is also another hose that tees off back by the seacock and goes to another stern thru hull above the water line.

Is this something to help with water coming up into the cockpit from the scupper? A safety feature? A time machine???!!

Any ideas??

Thanks, Nick

Maybe a former waste gate from head/holding tank that doesn't exist any longer? 2 inch diameter is a pretty large hose and that is the only thing I can think it might be unless it was a larger boat. Or is it part of a current or former water ballast system?
