I need to replace my trailer tires on my X and went through the entire posting in Towing and did not see a subject on what trailer tire has a good recomendation. I am using the Carlisle ST 215/75 R14 Load range C

Don't know if the boat will be around this summer for the Delta flotilla. Planning on doing the keys and then Bimini with the Couch Cruisers in May. I may leave the boat there for further cruises. It is such a long haul and I want to see everything there but with the hurricanes in the summer I don't know if it is safe to leave it there.
I left a message the other day for Dave Clark but no reply. He has a new girlfriend, guess he is busy.
What kind of tires do you have on your trailer?

Goodyear Marathons radials. Got them at West Marine, mounted on white steel rims. Frequent sales at 20% off so you get them for 90 bucks each.

Thanks Steve, W/M now sells a brand called American so I got the Goodyear Marathons at Walmart over the internet for $80 each. I think I will replace the rims as well. Mine are getting rusty but walmart does not sell the rims. Maybe Pepboys sells them.
I also am thinking about replacing the bearing instead of just repacking them. Have you ever done that? There is only about 12,000 miles on them but they are 6 years old.

If the existing bearings are not burned, pitted, or otherwise damaged there's no reason to replace them. If they are (damaged) there's no reason not to replace them; replacements are not expensive. Some people replace damaged bearings without replacing the races; That's a mistake, as damaged bearings almost always indicate damaged races, and running new bearings with damaged races will trash the bearings in a hurry.

I replaced them...A while back someone posted "everything you wanted to know about bearings. Got them from the source posted and followed the instructions. I think Chip may have posted it.

My local Goodyear shop found some galvanized rims to put the Marathon Radials on. They threw in free balancing too. They ride nice although they bulge out a lot more when you hit bumps versus the stiffer sidewall bias plys that came with it. Even painted steel rims don't last too long in Florida which is why I went Galvanized for a few bucks more.

Got my Goodyear Marathon tires today from Walmart. Good idea about the galvanized rims. I will look into it.
Finally heard from Dave Clark today. He has been working out of town for the last 3 weeks. I thought him and Tim Z sailed off to Hawaii in their X's.
