Transom valve leak

I have water dripping out of the seal around the external ballast valve. I would like to re-seal it.Does anybody know if the 4 screws holding the valve to the transom have nuts holding them or if they are tapped into the glass.I can't get my hand in to feel.

Mine are just tapped directly into the fiberglass, so it's important to treat them gently. USA specialty retailers (campers & RVs) sell the same valve body and maybe repair kits too. I don't recall the manufacturer's name but you'll see a stamping of it after removing the valve. You can probably order parts directly from them.

I replaced my valve this summer because I noticed that the ballast would fill, even when the valve was fully closed. It seems as though the new valve leaks as well. There has been some past discussion on this board about the same thing, it seems to be a common problem.

Could this be a cause of the problem. How much holding strength can there be with the size of threads used ? There is probably more strength in the sealer compound around the valve, or am I wrong.
My damn boat is only 11 months old.

Don't believe everything you read, Balu, since mine is an X, yours an M ....
Considering Roger's low-bucks strategy, I'm not sure how else they might approach the valve design. IIRC, there's at least a substantial thickness of fiberglass laid-in behind that valve .... (but, your mileage may vary!)

Roger should have a second option.
For an Xtra $2000.00 you get a boat with quality finishes.I never Knew it was a DIY completion boat when I bought it.
