Hey, I just noticed that my last post moved me to "Captain" level. I cannot think of a better subject to have made that happen.

Glad we have Marines. Wake Island, Solomons, Tarawa, Okinawa, Frozen Chosin...too many battles to mention where heroism was the norm. And this comes from a former Navy guy!

I was amoung many fellow Marines last night to toast our fine fighting force....they still make 'em like they used to back on my watch too! It was an informal gathering of sorts, but hoisted a few, for all the 'few'! I brought the cake complete with the Eagle,Globe and Anchor decorations, I was the oldest, and we had the youngest, and I cut the cake with my NCO Sword! Great time for sure.....right on Oceanside Harbor at the Monterey Bay Canners, Seafood joint!

Tony Swofford did well, I saw the flic, and will read the book! Gotta say for a two hour flic, he captured a small part of what I experienced, others may not have had that experience, I sure did! Call me dysfunctional, I probably resemble that remark rather well, I might add!


I WAS a D.I. also, and the way I always put it....It was the most fun I had with my clothes on!!!! It truly was an honor to 'Make' Marines, and the 'Corps gave me that golden oppertunity to do so!

But let's don't open up that can of worms....and get back to sailing discussions outside of this thread, nobody enjoys bickering on stuff like that!

Also, Happy Veterans day, today to all Comrades-in-Arms, let us ALL remember the sacrifices of those before us, and currently serving our fine nation!

I think that is absolutely Awesome, your son got to cut the cake at his cermony, as I have also, but always the 'Oldest'!!!!

Marine Corps Balls, are really something to behold, we celebrate many things, and have many traditions and our past Marines remembered in reverance!
