The Hunter is a great trailerable sailboat. It is well made, affordable..BUT she can't do 20 mph with some big horsey outboard. It is only a sailboat, not the added advantage of the power boat the Mac19, 26X and M have. Some would like just the sailing and Hunter is a good sailboat. Randy

Compared to the Mac 26M the Hunter 25 is only a Hunter 23 with all that wasted space at the transom, but then, that is typical of most Hunter models.

It's a nice looking boat...BUT is it NO MAC. Great looking cockpit. Rodger needs to make the stern rail seats standard! IMHO. What it does to the cockpit it tremendous!

No backstay like the M but it looks masthead rigged, if that's a CDI furler it has some sort of second halyard attached to the top? Still the mast looks curved like a fractional rig. If it sails better than the water-ballasted 260 then it will blow the X & M out as a sailor.

I like the FLOOR Plan of my 26-X much better. I just can't imagine hauling all that extra "KEEL" weight when trailering a HUNTER.

Took another look, iti's a fractional rig but appears perhaps a 95% or so.

One of the PICs shows the BIMINI on this HUNTER. Much TOO small. The sailor and a couple of GUESTS would be in SUNLIGHT most of the time. My MAC-X Bimini covers most of the COCKPIT...and the Captain and Guests are enjoying "SHADE" during these "HOT SUMMERs" in the SOUTH. But YES, that tinnie winnie Hunter Bimini is cute though. LOL

I've heard a lot about how well Hunters are made. Then I read this about a brand new Hunter 260 sinking within minutes of a maiden launch (includes links to photos):

No doubt many of you have already seen this but I only recently found it. Not sure what kind of long-term corrections Hunter made in construction. The Macgregor manufacturing process seems more idiot-proof, imo. Or so I hope

The missing specification is interior headroom. Given the companionway canvas option, it doesn't seem to me like standing headroom like the Macs have is a possibility with this one.

Yup... I noticed. They seemed to be passing rumors and cliches rather than real knowledge/experience about the Macgregor, though. But the sinking of the Hunter 26 on maiden launch was for real. No matter how much they attempted to divert or to shut down the thread, the facts (and photos) and disastrous workmanship are difficult to ignore.
