My dealer has these self-tapping covered screws. Does anybody know where I can purchase them?

By the way, I was out breifly with my new 115 Suzuki with the 6 year warranty.

Mark, I'm envious....not really! Looking good!!!!!!! Now you can give us a comparo from the old to the new.....115 ponies, gotta get 'em one of these days! Only problem is...the 1st mate needs convincing! Let's see, my 14' Zodicrap, (Zodiac) can use a new motor, and if I put my Suzy DF-50 on it, I'd have a reason to upgrade!!!!! Honey, you see all this trouble I'm goin' through yankin' my motor off all the time for the inflatable? Gotta work on a plan! Unless someone out there wants a 2002 50 HP, it's in great shape, then I am sure she'd (possibly ) agree?

As far as those covers, I've seen them in, white, silver, and black several places, Kragen Auto parts, West Marine, I am sure, along with hardware stores. Don't you have them on your interior screws for the windows? If those are the ones, yes, they can be had easily!

Then you mention self tapping screws....My suggestion there is to get the black Expansion sleeves. (rubber and brass moulded in nut) that Boat U.S. sells, and bolt things to the fiberglass. I don't know about others out there, but several things that had those stupid screws on my boat were trashed as soon as they got loose! The first things to go were the snaps attached to the cockpit seat cushions! I tried filling with glass and redriling, 3m-5200, nothing seemed to hold. Especially the Helmsman seat back cushion, I had two of them pull out on one trip!

The sleeves I am talking about are in the hardware area with all the S/S screws. I've seen them for years in the bins, and even asked a few different salesmen there, what they were used for. After getting the 'ol shrugged shoulders too many times, (what else is new?)a customer overheard us, and said they are expanding anchors for machine type screws. Do they ever do the trick, and you don't even have to seal them, as they are self sealing, just snug 'em real tight! They don't budge either!

I am unable to find them online, and don't have the part number, but they work for me! You can even put those fancy caps on also!

What the Specs you used to mount the 115 on the Max 26X

Billy has a 140hp on his Mac. He sent me photos a few specs and hints on installing his 140. The 140 and 115 & 90 Suzuki weight the same. I used these to give my dealer and idea of what I wanted. Fortunately, the dealer was experienced with this kind of installation and embellished a little on the job. I can email you what Billy sent me in addition to photos of my installation if you'd like.

As far as the rubber expansion nuts that I have mentioned, it seems that Boat/U.S. is going to discontinue the manufacturer in this case, but I am still working on a manufacturer and P/N for them also. I looked both online, and called their toll free number, and came up empty handed. I also called my local store, which is about 35 miles away, and if they cannot come up with the info, the next time I stop by the store, I will find this info out! I don't know about you, but I really do try and avoid going in......because I sure come out a lot poorer!

Anyone who is interested in those rubber fasteners, they are called wellnuts! Boat/US was able to supply a Manufacturer, but no P/N's, as they are clearing out that line....Handi Man Marine Inc. They are changing/going to use only their own vendors, what ever that means?

So, I call Handi Man Marine, and find out that they only sell wholesale evidently, and Boaters World carries the wellnuts! I went to their website, and couldn't locate it. I then called their toll free number. They couldn't help either. So, I noticed his accent, and wouldn't ya know it, he was located in INDIA!!! Seems like alot of outsourcing for computer jobs and soliciting, and now ordering/help desks are out of India. Global commerce at it finest.....I suppose. And these are American companies, Go figure!

Anyway, a search revealed several sources by plugging "wellnuts" into google. Well, I tried to help, anyway in this matter! They really do the trick for fastening things into the thin fiberglass substrate!
