September Catalina Trip

Post by Timmy Z »

I will be sailing to Two Harbors the weekend of September 16-18. We talked about a September trip during the Channel Island Loop trip last month so here it is. It should be good weather and that is the weekend of the 3rd annual Micro Brew Fest.

If 1/2 as much fun is had on this trip as the Channel Island loop trip then this should be listed as a "not to miss" event. Unfortunately, myself and crew will be in San Fransisco that weekend :x Uggg Arg!!!

For those of you fortunate enough to make the trip with Tim, this could be what you will see:

Tim, Sue and I will see you there. We might go a day or 2 early to get our favorite spot. Can we buy tickets to the beer fest before we go? We went to this party last year. They have a band, food and all the beer you can taste. Btw, my wife found out too late that this micro beer is very strong. Not the 2% we are use to.

I think the idea of sailing to the "3rd annual Micro Brew Fest" is a worthwhile cause.

Are you planning on tying boats up together on the Catalina Harbor side?

I was planning on going to Isthmus harbor. Its right there and if we can get a mooring on the front line its about 20 feet to shore at low tide. That way you dont have to use the dinghy dock. The dock get three deep sometimes. But if everybody wants to raft up, Im open to that.

I'm pretty sure Apryl and I will make it. After countless flushes (using salt away and a trash can) my motor seems to be running a bit cooler. We made it over to the island a couple weeks ago for a few days. Can't wait to get back over.

Turns out that my Jury Duty excuse did not work this time. It always worked before. I have to go in on the 12th of Sept. and see how long is the jury duty. I may have to pass the weekend Catalina trip with you guys.

BK,
Just tell them that if they were arrested than they probabally are guilty, that will get you off jury duty....or some other pollitically incorrect statement.

Bob, I just wanted to clarify my remark about Jury Duty. I didn't make the "smart enough" comment in my post, but I'll admit in rereading my post, it looks like it was implied and for that I owe people an apology. Just like still going to the voting polls to vote even if you think both candidates are bums, we all have an obligation to do our time on jury duty, even if we like to laugh at and mock our legal system that would give someone millions of dollars for spilling hot coffee in their lap.

I wish I could make the trip, but already have plans for that weekend.

Regards

I'm launching Thurdsay evening and will spend the night at Oceanside. I'll leave for Catalina early Friday morning and expect to motor all the way. I want to get there before all of the good spots are gone. See ya there.

I haven't checked in for awhile (too much work), but we still plan on going. We're going to try to leave after work Friday and motor across. So with a little luck we should be there just before dark. Worst case, we'll cross Saturday morning. See you there.
