Re: Those with Facebook…
Not sure why you're getting that, Ray - I just checked it again and it's still there. Are you a FB user?
As for what it was, it was a video of a Mac passing by a marina, at full blast, so it was planing and moving along nicely. The issue was the negative comments about Macs... lots of comments about being a terrible boat, dangerous, unsafe, bad compromise boat, etc. The usual garbage. This is what I posted as a comment against it:
=============================
Ok, let’s see…
- sails at up to 9 knots (I’ve personally done it with mine)
- motors up to 20 mph (ditto)
- powersails (motor + sails) easily at 15 mph with amazing mpg (motor quietly running barely off idle)
- can tow your kids on tubes or skis
- able to navigate waters as shallow as 10” (yes, INCHES)
- boat’s speed gets you out of dangerous weather conditions 5x faster than comparable sailboats
- boat’s speed allows you to stay out sailing later than every other sailboat and still get back in time for drinks at the marina
- can drop the mast in under 15 minutes to pass under bridges if needed
- can be pulled out and easily trailered anywhere with any vehicle that can tow 3500 lbs.
- sleeps 6 easily
- 6’ headroom
- private head w/ sink
- galley with full headroom
- cannot founder because of the amount of flotation built into the boat (like a Boston Whaler)
- extremely low maintenance (no wood brightwork, unless you want to add it)
- among the safest boats ever made, with over 20,000 made, and only 2 (TWO) known to have had fatalities in over 40 years, both of which involved gross captain errors and intoxication.
- 50x safer than driving a Volvo. In Sweden 2.5 people die in Volvos annually… averaging over 40 years, only 0.05 have died in a Mac per year.
- most friendly and helpful owners group of all the boating communities on the ‘net. (Macgregorsailors.com)
- MORE MAC 26’s HAVE BEEN SOLD AND ENJOYED THAN ANY OTHER SINGLE BOAT ON THE PLANET. *EVER*
Tell me again how terrible it is. But first prove that you sailed one.

Re: Those with Facebook…
The amount of idiocy on FB is just saddening. Doesn't matter what forum you are on, a lot of people have so much fun tearing others down, making stupid comments just for the reaction satisfaction.
That's why we love this place. I wish more people would check in here, instead of there.

Hi Kmclemore!
Couldn’t agree with you more!
There are lots more dangerous and injurious boats out and about than any MacGregor!
The per capita injury and fatality rates are much higher for many other so called ‘popular’ boats with far fewer units produced or in current use.
Personal opinion is Facebook is about as attractive as Mark Z in sunlight… which is all the more reason for one to avoid it when possible.
While that sometimes can’t be done in places like FB Marketplace it’s generally advisable to stay away from the mumbling idiots and self anointed stump preachers of pseudoscience opinions lacking credible mental capabilities… like walking down dark streets in places like Mississippi, Louisiana, or Alabama ( top three states for homicides per capita
https://usafacts.org/articles/which-sta ... der-rates/)… just best to be avoided by sensible folks whenever possible and quickly transited in broad daylight if ever required.
It’s not that I’m any sort of expert but if “bunk” content is the norm and “raw fertilizer spreading” is apparently unrestricted then why would I be interested in wandering around the Byzantine alleyways of those forums?
Factual data backed by verifiable incident reporting analyzed and compiled by the US Coast Guard for 2020 https://uscgboating.org/library/acciden ... s-2020.pdf
shows that relaxational recreational boating has a much higher incident rate of fatalities and injuries than one might be aware of. That’s a bit generalized but when gets into specific boating activities such as fishing and towed water sports one finds a considerable number of fatalities and injuries associated with them.

So if the FB boating “would be / wanta be” opinion experts really wanted to critique the design and operational safety of boat types and models they ought to focus in on fishing and tow water sport (ski/wake/float) type boats where there is consistent Year over year factual documented hazard. A little actual homework goes a long way to actual informed enlightenment.
But as with most crap in life the general populace moron factor applies… the baseless allegations are easily made but lack actual facts.
The worthless sour grape lie is easily made but never survives legitimate evaluation.
The ‘loser’ angst rants are really just of a general limited mental, moral and objective personal capability exhibited by individuals that would rather indulge in delusional self aggrandizement rather than acknowledgement that they were wrong and need to grow up. There are always going to be those for whom the normal deliberate “suspension of disbelief”, that say a mentally, morally and emotionally balanced individual engages to enjoy a fantasy or fictional story or movie, is brought into their everyday life worldview and they ‘believe’ what they feel regardless of actual reality’s or objective facts. The aspect of peer pressure of association also plays into the self delusional propensity. These compromised individuals are also generally susceptible to fear mongering and perceived bias speculation to affiliate with similarly minded compromised individuals for mutual self reinforcing delusion and emotional support.. whatever the topic or concern might be… Anything that differs from the delusional group think must therefore ‘obviously be wrong’ and must therefore be ‘vilified’ and ‘exposed’ as something ‘malevolent’, ‘fraudulent’ or ‘inappropriate’. At that point objective actual facts and truthfulness are willingly sacrificed on the delusional group altar of self righteousness. It’s also how con artists starts work by telling a small lie that an susceptible self delusional audience wants to hear and then builds on it over and over again to promote gradually bigger and bigger lies to eventually subvert these individuals into doing what the con artist desires from them and these compromised individuals actually think it’s their own objectives and benefit they are fulfilling …. Phhhppptttt!
Rodger MacGregor did a good thing designing, developing and producing one of the most well thought out and enjoyable motor sailor boats in that category of vessel. Kudos to those who have discovered that uniqueness and difference… and inherent designed in safety. FB naysayers can go take a long walk off a short pier……
… preferably in swimsuits and floaties to cool off and enjoy the cool water.
Best Regards,
