Need some help with roller furler

So I’m installing all new standing rigging as I’ve noticed some rust. The ends of the current rigging used turnbuckles instead of the stock arrangement with the holes and pins. At BWY’s urging I switched back to stock hardware to avoid bending turnbuckles. Anyway, alls good for the most part but the new forestry has a much thicker swage and does not go down in the black cap at the top. This results in less usable length at the attachment point at the bottom. I’ve been told that to make the new forestry work I just need to cut the plastic extrusion that the forestay goes through (gray rectangle mar plastic piece). This will effectively make the usable length of the forestay longer. Does everyone agree?

Please see pics.

Personally I wouldn't hesitate to expand the hole in the cap to pass the new forestay swage. It's just that: a cap... and I like the beefier swage.

And yes, you have to cut the extrusion to length. I did it two years ago: it's scary but if you follow the instructions it comes out well. Measure LOTS, cut once.
