Hello, I just picked up a 1986 Mac 25, in reasonable shape, rigging needs some help . some cosmetic work to be done.
my plans is to sail it for a few years( hopefully) as I will be 75 in July. eventually I want to sail it to Florida and give it to my Son (step) who lives in Jacksonville. I probably will be looking for advice and direction as I get it ready for the water. and do some upgrades.

Welcome to the Forum Garry. Sounds like you have a nice project in the works. When you can, post some pictures of the boat. Please post pictures and document any significant repairs or modifications.
The M25 manual is here if you haven't found it already:
https://macgregorsailors.com/resources/ ... Manual.pdf
In your future posts, please try to post in the correct forum area. Your boat general posts would probably belong in the Macgregor/Venture area; while repairs and modification posts would go in the repairs/modification area. It actually helps to post in the correct spot as some folks may not be browsing all parts of the forum.
You're as young as you feel. These boats are pretty manageable, and moreso with a few creative mods.
Thank you for your service! Glad to have you participating!
Jim

Gary,
Welcome to this forum.
Think positive; you have two years on me, but you are not the oldest septuagenarian active here

. Just yesterday I heard that 73 is the new 37

Thanks for the Welcome,
I think I will enjoy this site, getting things sorted out on the boat, perused the mods section, got a lot of ideas, starting with the galley, making it permanent as I don't need the bed space, I think it as some class to the boat. but firs on the agenda is to learn how to sail it.
thinking about Sail Aweigh for a name? just straightened the slightly bent mast today.

dockwa.com is having a best boat name contest, give it a try. You may have to join, but it doesn't cost anything, and someday you just may want to use their services.

Hello All,
I am new to this forum. Just bought a Mc 19 that has been sitting in a back yard for 20 years or more. It was used only 4 or 5 times. it is in mint condition and it seems all there. However no owners manual. I could use any info or help I can get. I have done quite a bit of sailing. I now live in AZ so I do not plan to put this in the water for a number of months. My long term plan is Puget sound, perhaps Sacramento river, then lower west coast of FL to the keys, then the Bahamas. I am retired so I have the time. I chose this boat because I can tow it with my small hybrid car. I know it is not meant for blue water but, but I have been there and I know what to expect. I am interested in what others have done with this boat, and any suggestions.
Thank You

Welcome ugly (fun name). The Mac19 was the predecessor to the M26 and a fine boat. Not Blue Water, however I suppose plenty of people have taken boats offshore that were not built for that.
You can download the manual and other resources from the main site "Resources" tab.
