Came across an X for sale in NY as part of an estate sale. After 6 weeks of phone tag and messaging back and forth I was finally able to drive 3 hours down to NY and check it out. It's rough but I'll clean her up and get her right again. Original owner bought it in '97 and had it until he passed in 2020. I still have my to play with while I get the all sorted out. Had a local shop pick it up for me and replace the tires before I tow it back here to Mass with my Sprinter. Hope the Admiral is happy and I don't end up sleeping in the Sprinter.... Will post pics of the project as I get her home and start sorting out the mess. Expect lots of questions on this one... Like, anyone have a spare set of rudders hanging out they would like to unload? Or perhaps a dxf file of the rudders so I can cut them on my cnc?

Congrats on joining as a new X owner. Re:rudders. I think you’ll find the stock rudders are more complicated than cutting out a new shape. As they are hollow and fill/empty with water. Maybe can be done though. They would be lots heavier.

The rudders on our Mac26X are solid airfoil shaped plastic material and are original as best as we know.
The swing keel, on the other hand, is a semi-hollow fiberglass construct that does indeed flood when deployed.

Blue Water Yachts has replacement rudders listed in their catalog.
That might be cheaper and less complicated than design / fab on your own once you factor in material, design time, fab time and finishing time… unles you’re like us and enjoy the challenges!

Your rudders on Over Easy are not the factory original. In 2008 I had to replace them with the IDA rudders after the originals were damaged.

Picking her up next weekend and bringing her home. Isn't fabbing half the fun ? The Admiral has spent several hours this week in the Mods section and making a list. Where in NH are you Over Easy and K9Kampers? I'm leaning towards a small marina down in Warwick RI so I can practice sailing in the Narraganset Bay before hitting the Canal and playing around in Mass Bay.

We live in neighboring towns. He's in East Podunk and I'm in West Podunk, NH. I was the 2nd owner of s/v Over Easy, and he's the 3rd owner.

I've sailed Narragansett Bay several times, launching out of Allen Harbor Marina in North Kingstown. Have sailed Buzzards Bay several times as well. Launch ramps in Mass I reccomend from experience are Tempest Knob Ramp on the Wareham River, Apponagansett Point Ramp, South Dartmouth, Hoppy's Landing, Fairhaven, and the Westport River Ramp.
