My new pedestal accessories installed

Post by Sheppie62 »

Just finished putting all the stuff I wanted on the Pedestal, thought I’d share it with you guys. Feel free to critique if you want, you won’t hurt my feelings :D yes I can see over top of multifunction display with my raised seat cushion (not shown) under construction. I am planning on installing hydraulic auto pilot on Inside of transom, and control with multifunction display and maybe a remote. Trying to figure out how to put a small water tight compartment in hole Under steering wheel for wallet, keys, etc.

Very nice u did similar to what I did

Image

after I done the final fit I replaced this center swivel bolt with a security bolt which requires a special tool too remove it
Image

I also replaced the mounting knobs with security locking ones which also requires a special tool

something u might want to consider  we r having a lot of boat break-ins since covid started & 6 boat thefts in our area at the marina,s & boats on the hook :(
hate to see u lose that nice MDU

Thanks Highlander, nice setup! Like the swivel/ security bolts/ knobs. That hatch with bag inside was what I was thinking at first, but I could only use a 4” hatch and bag, and wouldn’t really hold much. Think I’m going to make a box out of 1/4” starboard, screw it together. That way I can get the perfect size/ shape and can change later if needed. I haven’t thought about security issues yet.

Love the pedestal setups, guys. Thanks for sharing! I did not realize that "pedestal envy" was a thing until I saw your pictures. Now I have it.

Sheppie62, what is the function of those "black knob" looking things on the top and side of your pedestal? Hand holds? Line cleats? Golf ball cleaners?

If u zoom into my second pic u,ll see on the starboard side of my pedestal guard u can see a black knob U-bolted onto it then the black screw knob on top middle of clamp which is clamped onto the said knob other end of clamp is clamped onto the knob on back of the empty mounting plate

Ah, so some kind of pivoting, removable mount that you can attach different things to? Nice

Black knobs -Ram Ball Mounts

Post by Sheppie62 »

Lord Elsinore, those black knobs are Ram Ball Mounts. The side one is for my IPhone viewable while driving/ sailing. The other 3 on top are for other passengers phones/ or an action cam/ or mounting an iPad viewable form the side. There is a usb charging port on the side also. We have an iPad Pro 12.9” which is our Netflix’s monitor for watching downloaded movies / shows. We suction cup a mount above the Vee Berth area and watch tv in bed, it’s amazing, like a big screen tv. Think I will glue a mount up there permanently with 5200 adhesive. I’m planned on putting some stainless hoops for grab handles, protect people from tearing things off the pedestal , safety
