I know I'm missing something, but there's nothing but lint in the bottom of my clue bag. :|

Deflection didn’t work. Busted.

That’s where I grew up, in fact, and where I first sailed, ever. On a Sunfish, with no life jacket, and eventually no wind. :P

I’m falling in love with Port Jeff for retirement. Trying to get Catigale down there

I spent many summers of my youth on LI sound and in port Jeff. There was a little sand hole just east of the harbor entrance, Mt. Misery point. Chart showed 1' depth. Chart was wrong. Locals knew it was a fantastic, well-sheltered anchorage. Climb up the hill for a great view of the harbor and the Sound. We (teenagers) would climb up there, make a firepit and watch the sunset. Good times.

Now, it looks like it's full of mooring balls and everyone knows about it.

I was across the sound in CT. Never been to LI except for business. Only on the south shore, like Lynbrook, east of JFK. And that was rare. More so now.
