As a brand spanking new sailor, when I first got my boat home my first thought was 'How am I ever gonna figure this all out?' I didnt even know most of the names of things let alone what they did...
Now Im getting alot closer to my first sail but need a bit more help
So I have three lines on my boat. I theoretically know what they do but not exactly in what order. Please help explain!
1. Black line. This goes from the cockpit through a locker and up to a pulley on the top of the mast stern side. Pics 1 and 4.
2. White line. Same as black line above but its pulley is one the bow side of the mast.. Both of these end with a snap swivel sorta connector (sorry for the terminology). Pic 5.
3. Blue rope. These go from a winch in the cockpit, up towards the bow where a snap swivel is tied in about in the moddle of the rope then back to the cockpit and the opposite winch. Pics 2 and 3.
I though I should have 2 halyards and 2 sheets...???? But apparently I only have three. If someone could chime in I would greatly appreciate it!

This sounds like the main halyard. Used for hoisting the main sail.
2. White line. Same as black line above but its pulley is one the bow side of the mast.. Both of these end with a snap swivel sorta connector (sorry for the terminology). Pic 5.
This sounds like the jib halyard. Presumably there is no furler, so you would would hoist the jib with this line.
3. Blue rope. These go from a winch in the cockpit, up towards the bow where a snap swivel is tied in about in the middle of the rope then back to the cockpit and the opposite winch. Pics 2 and 3.
Jib sheet. Clips to the clew of the jib or genoa (larger version of a working jib), and the tails go to each side since when you tack, the former leeward sheet half will go slack and must be loosened while the new leeward sheet is taken in and adjusted as required.

There should be a main sheet somewhere, consisting of two or three blocks and some line. Number of blocks depends on how the main sheet is rigged, either to a traveler or fixed block in the center, or to the cockpit coming with one block on each side of the boat and the sheet making an inverted vee to the boom.

The main sheet could be attached to the boom, or laying loose in the floor somewhere. My mainsheet and boom vang rigs look very similar, and might be mistaken for each other if you weren't familiar with the boat.
It's usually connected from mid boom back toward the aft end. In other words, the attachment point to the boom is between the middle and back end of the boom. The boat end would be attached to a corresponding location in or around the cockpit. If you can't figure it out, lay the boom on deck with the mast end at the the mast base location. Then take a good pick of the boom and cockpit area, and post the pic.

Not sure what you're saying, but if you look at that black line going up the starboard side and back down on the aft side of the mast, you can see a halyard shackle hanging there. That's for hoisting the main sail.
On the port side, it looks like the jib/genoa halyard but with a snap shackle on the end (your last pic).
The blue line is clearly the jib/genoa sheet. I tie a simple cow hitch instead of a shackle, as the shackle would beat up the mast when tacking.
Don't see any pictures of the main sheet, though.

I was under the impression that the V222 used this style main sheet (see below - forgot the name) like many entry level boats did back-when, but since I've never owned one or even saw one first-hand, I could be wrong.

You know better than I, Tom. I just figured, that since he was having trouble finding the main sheet, we ought to broaden the search. Since the boat has a few years on it, things may no longer be where they once were. Wait, I resemble that remark...
Similar version from my buddy's Potter 19 - yesterday sailing Dog River...

Some long shots of the deck, cockpit, and boom would go a long way here. He even seems unsure of the rigging he's already posted.

I think you got him straight on what he showed in the pics. Long shots would have definitely helped me. Closeup of a rope clutch is a difficult clue.

We've all been right where you are now. We just need enough info about your rig to help you.
Hang in there! It gets easier.

No worries. But these 222's do have that style mainsheet system, FWIW. Yours may not, but pictures certainly would help.
