Replacing my dagerboard this season, wondering if anyone knows the oem length of the safety line? Not sure how far out of the locker the board should go.
Thanks
John

On my 26D, I tied the safety line stopper knot with about 1" of board above the water line.

4 ft from top of dagger to stop knot on deck. 2013 26m original setup.

I would think that the safety line would allow the drop to the maximum extension depth.
Excerpts from manual:
This also coincides with a calculation for the max draft:

What is the actual draft of a ballasted 26x?
Is it 5ft 6in when measured not just listed on product info?

Excellent!
I measured again this morning to be sure. It is 4 ft - stop knot to top of dagger. But there is a long tail on the stop knot... So, the factory rigged it wrong, or the PO changed it (I've found several things rigged incorrectly, so I'm not surprised).
Anyway, nice catch. I'll do some additional measuring, and check my cruising water charts for depth and see if moving the knot is in my best interest.
I agree that the numbers don't support a 4 ft safety line length.

I don't want to go Chicken Little on you, but you might consider that the lower portion of the D/B case is super well reinforced and above that it gets very thin. I'd estimate only a layer or two of glass. I have the carpet off in some locations. If you get a hard strike while at only 48" depth, the top corner gets driven into a non-reinforced area. Just something to consider.

It's not a "chicken little" if the sky is actually falling.

Have to get my signature line working again, would help to know what kind of boat Im talking about.
BWY sent me a precut safetyline with instructions that the knot /washer be at 57 inches. That would seem to support the 48 in drop. Line is 67 in, same as board, so after a knot / washer i can probably get another 4 inches. That seems like the sweet spot.
Thanks for all the great replies
