Hi all,

We (Richard and Anne) are MAC newbies from Perth WA.
We bought a 26M in April, did a bit of work and then took it to Shark Bay for our 30th wedding anniversary in July.
I have put together a blog of the trip, as well as some of the modifications/repairs. I include a link to it below in case it is of interest to anyone.
The contributors on this site have provided us with heaps of information, much of it invaluable, as have many who have published videos of their experiences. We thank you all.
If you have a look at the blog, please keep in mind our limited experience with the MAC and sailing.

Nice blog. You certainly have some wonderful places to sail down there.

That Autopilot mod looks like it works well.

Great blog Richard! Really enjoyed reading your posts and seeing your pics and videos. Thoroughly entertaining! Hope your dagger wasn't damaged too badly.

Thanks.
Yes the auto-pilot setup is a real asset.
Re the daggerboard: I took it out for the first time when we got back. It looks like I put a new notch in the trailing edge - but only about 3/4 inch deep. There were an additional three or four other notches - looked to be older - probably from the PO. Additionally there was a transverse crack about an inch off the bottom edge - not sure whether that was due to me. Anyway, no real problem to repair.

Hi Richard, thanks for the blog and the awesome photos of Shark Bay. It brought back great memories of our trip around Australia in 2015. Can you tell be what type of dingy Bingo is.

Thanks,

Rohan

Rohan,

Thanks - glad that you enjoyed the blog.
Bingo is a 3m Porta-bote. See https://www.porta-bote.com.au (Australia) or https://www.porta-bote.com (USA). They're made in the USA.

Cheers

Has someone a good place to store porta-bote in a Mac26? Ok I don't mean INside a mac. But somewhere on/at/with the Mac but not towing.

I like the idea of a porta-bote, but I think it is not easy to store on small boat like ours.
