Does anyone have a view of in stock mac sails (eg BWYachts, sailwarehouse, discount sails ...) vs custom sails in terms of quality?
I assume most sails are made in Asia now?
Anyone know of anyone else that stocks mac sails other than the above?
I assume all custom sails take 5 weeks, anyone know a custom loft that is faster?

I really can’t answer your question about speed.
At the last Annapolis boat show (I know you are in Canada), I bought a new Genoa from UK Sails in New York State, USA. They were very accommodating. I don’t know if, and where they have offices, but it is worth an inquiry.

Upgraded main and 110jib with BWY Flat top main and performance Jib. Totally different boat. Competitively priced. Sails were designed by BWY who knows more about Mac than anyone. Worth every $. Points higher, accelerates in the puffs instead of heel, less heel under all points of sail/winds. Flat top generates more power in low winds. Full batten main.

The OP just has to be aware that he can't use a flat-top or muscle head on the

, due to the backstay. But he should consult BWY on their better quality sails.
I wouldn't buy the OEM quality that BWY offers, as they were designed to a price point, not for longevity.
Though mine have lasted 21 years.
But they sail like old bed sheets.
So there's that.
