Foredeck hatch replacement in '85 Mac 25- another try for info

Hi, y'all!
About a year ago I posted a question about replacement of a Mac25 foredeck hatch but had no replies.
I have the same question. Has anyone done a hatch replacement? If so what type/brand was used?
I'd like to improve the OEM hatch which I find to be less than useful.

Looks like this guy just put in a standard hatch (not mine). If you have any fiberglass skills, you could do a better job of working it into the deck. If you have a somewhat flat foredeck area to work with, seems like a standard hatch would be a good way to go.

Hatch on the M is not on a flat surface, so, not sure what I'll do if I have issues with mine...

What don't you like about the existing hatch? Mine has no strut so you either have it flopped all the way open, or open just a crack. Also, no insect screen is a problem in my area.
Both are things I can probably fix, but it would have been nice to have standard.

The following I find to be cons:
Poor fit & finish.
Poor seal.
Doesn't allow light in the vee-berth.
