1985 Mac 25 hull thickness

Anyone on this forum happen to know the hull thickness in the space under the V-berth on an 85 Mac 25? Also is this hull area solid fiberglass layup or might it have coring? Looking to mount a depth finder transducer inside the hull.

I seriously doubt any core was used for the Hull of the MacGregor Boats. Core is only used in the Deck to reduce weight. More weight low down on the Boat is a good thing.
That said, have never drilled through the bottom of the Boat, so do not know the thickness of the solid fiberglass.

Many of us have no trouble shooting thru the hull of a Mac.
I slapped my transducer tight in a blob of plumbers putty
and pressed it hard into the floor under the Vberth.
Works fine.

I've never seen a small trailer boat with a cored hull. Only big boats. FWIW.
Cored decks, yes, but not hulls.

Mac hulls are definitely not cored. The hull under the V-berth does get thicker the closer you get to the bottom of the "V". I have my depth transducer mounted about a foot up the starboard side from the bottom of the "V", directly under the access hatch in the rear of the V-berth.

On my 1984 Mac 25 I just skipped the thru-hull mounting and mounted my depth finder/fish finder transducer on the transom at the waterline. It seems there is sufficient allowance for angle flexibility, that you can point the center of the signal angled slightly forward and it will pick up anything threatening under the lowered keel. Then, I just set my depth alarm to give me a safety margin. I've found the setup to be reasonably accurate, has saved me several times from underwater bottom/obstruction contact, and no holes to be drilled.
