Photobucket is ruining this site.

:| This whole photobucket thing is really starting to tick me off. It seems every page I visit now on this site with photos of mods, use photobucket, and lucky for us, as of late June, it will now cost $399 a year for those photos to be hosted by 3rd party.

So I know I'm asking a lot, but please, if you used photobucket in the past, update your photos using some other image hosting site. I'm going through withdrawal without my daily dose of mods and ideas. (I'm a visual guy)

Why doesn't this site store and serve images for posts? This isn't the 80's--disk storage and bandwidth don't cost what they use to.

I think it does, in the Mods section at least. My images are still there, and I wiped out my P'bucket account when it went rogue.

Or maybe those images predate my use of P'bucket, and are on tinypic. I don't really know. :|

True costs can be less now but not necessarily so if the site is running on older contracts. I have my site on two different hosting sites and one costs me $250 a year. The other is less. I'd like to move off of the first one but haven't done it as there are hundreds of pages on that server and thousands of pictures and I'm not sure how to migrate all of that to a new hosting site and then will the search engines still have me where I am now after doing that so that people can find the information still.

Since people expect things on the Internet to be basically free I doubt that this site is generating much income at all and if so where is the incentive to move the site to newer software that can make the site more user friendly. I run mine at a loss every year but do get some contributors, but very few. Hopefully there is enough income created here to keep the site up, not sure when mine will go away but eventually it will,

P.S. I'd suggest to anyone wanting to post pictures to pay for a hosting service and then you will be in charge of your destiny and you can post your pictures without advertising and wondering what might happen to them down the road. Paying for a hoisting site for your stuff is not that expensive if you aren't posting gigabytes of things on it.

Well I use imgur for my posts, and it seems to work great as far a 3rd party posting. Then again, how long will it be before that goes rogue.

I flushed my PeeBucket ten years ago because of their stupid tricks then. Google search for account delete for fastest results.

100% agree..... To go from zero to $399 (for a sh~t slow site at that) must be the worst business decision I have ever seen!... And I'm hoping very few people will be silly enough to pay for that.... and that Photobucket dies on its arse real soon!

I stumbled across an interesting extension for the Chrome browser that fixes the photobucket hotlink issue. Basically it re-directs the URL causing Photobucket to think it is being accessed directly. You can find it here at: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... apbifiaedg They also have a patch for Firefox users at Firefox/Android version: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... bucket-fix

Hopefully we can return to enjoying this fabulous website as it was before Photobucket got greedy.

Hey Azzarac the lizard! I added the chrome extension to my chrome browser - does that mean all my pictures will come back now??

I think its just for viewing images inside your browser (this site) without seeing the Photobucket Ad/Block.
The Chrome extension is working well here so this is a great find.... Thanks Azzarac :)
