How do you keep your black 'black'?

I love the look of my new (to me) 26M, especially the contrast of the black against the white. With salt water, it's not looking as black as it was. What do you use to make it BLACK as it was?

A good power buffing tool is needed. Start with a cleaning wax with mild abrasive, and then, when the oxidation is removed. follow up with a good wax treatment. When things get to the point where this no longer produces satisfactory results, it's time to go with the NuGlass products. They do a great job of bringing back the black. In extreme cases, you may need to resort to paint.

Everything Chinook said, but I did two things different.

(1) I start out with a low abrasive compound. I my case, I use Turtle Wax's low abrasive product first, and then wax.
(2) When the time came, I skipped the Nu Glass, and went straight to the paint. It was in my tenth season ( I think it was ten ), I painted the stripes. I used Benjamin Moore impervex latex high gloss enamel (black). I was very pleased. After three years ( I think? Maybe four? :D ), I am still very pleased. Most of my sailing is fresh water, so our use of the :macm: is different.

When the time comes, and you do decide to either use Nu Glass or paint, prep is very important.

P.S. Where do you sail out of, and what year is your :macm: :?:

I just used a 3M product on mine called Marine Restorer & Wax I got the green bottle it,s for more heavily oxidized area,s like the black stripes , it,s combined rubbing compound & wax all in one application , just apply as instructions say then wipe it off , I done mine by hand & it turned out very good .

Thanks folks!

I don't see a repaint being necessary in the near future, so I'm going to try buffing this up.

Cheers
