Hi guy

My partner will be in Vancouver in January, I wanted to take the chance to get ger to get some stuff from BWY but she isnt confident in driving on the wrong side of the road and making the road trip down.

As a second thought does anyone know a cheap way we can get stuff delivered to Canada or live on the boarder so she can pick it up from you

Cheers
Mike

I live on Lake Michigan. I'm sure the IUS/Canadian authorities would get quite excited if we met in the middle of the lake and started handing parcels over to each other :P

It can be difficult to get stuff across the Canada/USA border so I think your partner is making a good decision to not try it. She would have to declare it, of course, and if she has been in the USA for less than 24 hours then she would have to pay all taxes and duties when crossing the border back into Canada. If the stuff bought in the USA wasn't made in the USA, Canada, or Mexico, then the import duties can be very high. It may be possible to avoid the duties if you could show that Canada is only a trans-shipment country and the final destination is Australia, but I don't know how feasible that idea really is.

If you ship direct to an address in Canada, sometimes the shipping company will collect import duties from the consignee at the time of delivery. Something to work out with BWY if you find a willing receiver in BC. Good luck!

just get it shipped to a canadian address. There are a lot of place that are set up just for this purpose, most are near the borader, but some else where, .. so you just get BWY to ship it to a place aht holds it untill you pick it up.

I am just north of the 49th parallel and over the years have brought many things across the border. At our small crossing we usually get thru without paying duty or tax if we have declared less than around $300. Even if we are only at a shipping outlet and across the border for a few hours. If the savings are significant by buying in the USA I would consider it.We like to declare everything and be completely honest.I also have overseas friends who have been not charged duty or tax as the final destination of the goods was not Canada.I would say go for it yourselves.
