Stern railing
Stern railing
I would like to add stern railing to my 1995 26s. I have noticed some 26s models that have a beefier railing with a swim ladder built in and some simply have the single rail around back. Does anyone have any information on the availability of the stern railing with the swim ladder as opposed to the single rail?

Re: Stern railing
Not sure where to tell you to find one but I'd for sure get one that is cut out in the back with a ladder.

Our boat came with a ladder and a rail but it was a real pain to get under or over the rail. My legs were long enough to get over but Ruth's weren't so....

I cut a section out and also extended the ladder at the top to make things easier.

Latter I added to the bottom of the ladder and added flat steps to the ladder and that made boarding the ladder while swimming much easier and the flat steps were much more friendly to bare feet than the round rungs were,

Re: Stern railing
I beleive most of the stern rails were added by the dealers that sold the boats. I do not think I have seen 2 on any of the classics that look alike. Saying that mine probably has what you are looking for. They still have the company sticker on them that has "The rail maker". I will look to see if there is any more legible information on the sticker.
Is this what you are looking for?
Best picture I have of my rails.

Re: Stern railing
The single rail model is available from Blue Water yachts. I ordered one for my 26D. It was quite pricey. I probably should have shopped around for a local marine welder.
I have not yet installed it, but when I do I will probably do a cut over the ladder area, and an additional post.

Re: Stern railing
I priced one from the Rail Makers giys and it was about $350 a few years ago. Then it would have been about $125 for shipping regular ground freight to my office (not residential). I live in Florida, they're in Washington or something...
I priced a welded local SS version and was around $1000 the way I wanted it with the cutout.
I ended up buying an aluminum Junior Uni Arch from Fish On Sports instead.
