Transom Wedge yea, Hydrofoil nay?

I'm repowering now (just to a 60HP Merc bigfoot), I'm currently planning to add a 5 degree transom wedge, and not install a hydrofoil. Any reason I should change either of these decisions? (obviously the wedge is more difficult to change later)

Thanks

Go with the wedge. Most foils you can't install without voiding your new motor warranty. & if a warranty is not an issue, you can always add a foil later.

Is this a homebuilt wedge? Like a Schnellboot?

Me too! ... Maybe it's an :macx: thing but I have no understanding of why you'd need one Bob?
I thought they were used on short hull boats that rise up at the bow under power?

Definitely the wedges. It gives the motor a better angle of attack thus preventing the bow from rising as much during acceleration. Stay away from the foil. Possible undue stress and torque on stern and motor. Just my 2 cents. (Works for the 140. )
