BWY Cockpit Table.

I am wondering if somebody who purchased cockpit table from BWY could answer a few questions for me. Can you lock the table in down position when table is not in use or you remove it? If yes then how much feet interference do you have when moving around the cockpit especially when sailing? And over all would you recommend investing in this feature?

Thank you!!!

I bought one last year. I have no measurements for ya.

Let's face it, the Mac cockpit is small. Well at least the M, I haven't sailed on an X. Adding ANYTHING is going to make it more crowded.
It definitely gets in the way no matter what position.

The cockpit needs a table. It works well as this function.

RussMT,

Do you have pics of table as installed and being used?

This is kind of what I thought. So it sounds like you can lock it in down position when not in use. And you are right, cockpit needs table and it is small enough that anything gets in the way.

I am ordering it then. Thanks!

We've had one for the past 5 years. It can fold down but we found it best to pull the quick release pin and store it below while under way. If you plan to spend any time on your boat, the cockpit table is a must-have!

After the first season, I replaced the cheap plastic table top( which had little room for meals and was slick) with a larger Oak table top. We really enjoy this added meal room and atmospheric warmth. I've created a few of these tops now and there is one sailing on the Mexican coast right now and another boxed up and in the mail on it's way to Western Autralia to be a part of the 26M Wanderer's cockpit! :)

Anyway, a cockpit table is definitely a worthwhile mod and the one BWY has is set up for easy removal of the table for sailing room...

Here is a picture from a couple years ago that shows the mount with the table removed. (it takes 5 seconds to remove or install the table) You can see the mount on the pedestal in saililng position. There are two pins. You rotate the little T-mount up horizontal and pin it in place, then slide the table onto it and pin the table in place. (note, this is my old table. The current ones are about 2" shorter fore/aft and about 1 1/2" narrower for more leg room.

I can also provide additional pictures if interested. <insert Gratuitous self promoting plug> You can see ours on our videos. This one starts out, showing the older, larger cockpit table. --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfZXw1c ... 49paWcIOMv

Thanks! I bet you'll like it. We tend to eat 99% of our meals in the cockpit.

Hey Doug,

How much different (larger) is your table from the original plastic one?

The plastic one is made of that stuff like cutting boards. Very slippery.
I painted it with rubberized paint. It helps, but an edge border like yours would be better as well as your drink holder. Not to mention adding some actual wood to the boat. Nice.

I bought one of these bed tray,s with folding legs .
http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/00258882/

I installed two spring clips on one end that snap onto the handle I have on my pedestal , then fold out the leg on the other end works great & also doubles up as a bed tray @ night relaxing in the berth & the price is right :)

just have no photo, but I made the hatch new with plywood. So I use it also as a cockpit table. I put it just behind the steering wheel and over the helm seat.

So you have a big table and the space in front of the cockpit is free to go down into the boat.

If u just use one spring clip u can have the table off center to either side for more room when only one person is using it

PS I,ll be buying the white one I posted earlier for $12 & mod it too into a cockpit table

Russ, Quite a bit larger. Of course, I am drawing a blank at the moment. I'll measure when I'm at home. and post. I'm cutting out another one tonight! :)
