OIt's no actually a modification, as that unit was configured for pump out and vent from the factory. You're just missing the little spigots for the two hoses. But a quick check of parts sites doesn't show those parts as separate items.NiceAft wrote:Has anyone made this modification? From my observations, it seems that it is doable.

Ray I believe I,ve got the same one & the top section is off right now as I drained out the top fresh water tank in the fall & I do not think it is back on so if I get a chance tomorrow morn I will take pic,s of the bottom section & my installation
Sumner So the Double Doodie bag head dose not comply with Florida regs? I was under it impression Porta potties were allowed and did not need pump out? I do not know, just trying to find out.Sumner wrote:

Depends on where you are and who is interpreting the law. You can't stay in Boot Key Harbor (public mooring field) without a pump-out head but in the past they gave you some time to comply (we left before the end of that period). You are under different jurisdictions down there, especially in the Key's Sanctuary. I personally believe that a porta-pottie or the bag head meets the law but wouldn't want to get ticketed and have to stay around to go to court and have to prove it. One thing that is often overlooked is there is a different set of rules, at least as far as the State of Florida is concerned I believe if the boat is under 26 feet and the S is 25 feet 11 inches, not sure about the X and M's actual length.Ponaldpe wrote:..... Thanks for the answer I do not care much for the porta potty but for now that is what I have, One day it will be replaced with " C " head or Double Doodie . The boat at one time must have had a pump out it has the fitting top side , no longer connected to any thingSumner wrote:Depends on where you are and who is interpreting the law. I never was stopped in the Keys except for the situation mentioned above at Marathon but have been checked at Fort Myers Beach and Marco Island. Once by the state of Florida and the other by the county. The last trip by the State and they didn't board me once I told them their were no thru-hull's and that the pump-out cover for the MSD head was right by the hand they were using to hold onto the Mac while they were next to me. Also when the County boarded at Marco once they saw the bag head and no thru-hulls they left.
Saying all of that if you don't want to stay at Marathon and have a porta-potty I wouldn't worry too much about it. Googling the subject it is hard to find definitive answers to the whole deal. I finally just decided to put in the MSD head and quit reading and worrying,

being 25'-10". My registration says 25 ft, presumably since it has no space for inches. Good for me, as I get the lower pricing tier for Erie Canal lock and bridge operation (26 ft and up is mo' money), though it's pretty cheap even for a bigger boat. And they do check the registration when buying a pass.
