How hard to beat the bolt/nut to remove centerboard :?

Tried removing the CB on my 02X today. Backed the nut off, slackened the CB line, and started beating on a wood dowel above the nut/bolt with a 3 # hammer. After about 20 whacks, the bolt appeared to be BENDING, but the CB is still in there tight.
I'd like to remove the CB to clean it up and bottom paint, but not if I destroy the bracket doing it............ To my knowledge, the CB has never been removed.
Thoughts?

Captron,
I had to use a 2x4 as lever to force mine through the sealant. I just can't remember how I had the board positioned or where the fulcrum was. I'll be on the boat Sunday, I'll see if I can jar my memory...

Long time ago, I seem to remember doing this. From underneath, I ran a rope or strap over the c/b near the hanger. I then lifted a 2x4 against the bottom of the trailer frame and tied the rope under the 2x4 tight against the trailer, crossways. When I pushed down on one end of the 2x4, the c/b pulled right out.
Word of caution: Have a cushion for the c/b to prevent any damage. When it releases, it free falls.
When you reinstall the c/b, use silicone. It'll come out easier next time. Good luck.

Wow billy that's genious. I just banged & pressed mine out of the way. While the hangar is still useable my bolt/dowel galvaniclly corroded
BWY has em on backorder, but they're due in soon.

I'm going to barrier coat my new one & trilux bottom coat for metal my new one so it won't get like this one:
Also screw the nut to very top to protect the starting threads if banging.
