Hi Guys,
I got my boat home today and as I went to move my mast back the spreader bar fouled on one of the safety wire bars and I didn't notice till it was too late. So now I have a broken spreader bar on one side. :?

Does anyone know where I might be able to buy a replacement or get one made here in Brisbane?

Cheers

Barry

Barry,

Here in the States, many on this board who have had the same problem go to retail locations which sell aluminum tubing, and cut them to the length needed. Just be certain that the outside dimensions and the inside dimensions match those of original factory spreaders. Some on this board purchase tubing that have a slightly thicker outside dimension than the originals. I'm sure you could fnd aluminum tubing sources.

More important, once you solved the problem, you may find it easier to just remove the spreaders when de-rigging. It's much easier than trying to manipulate the mast so as to get the spreaders under the life lines.

After bending a few spreaders myself, I now just disattach them from the mast, but I also keep one on board as a just in case spare :D

Thanks Ray,
I'll look into that and make a few spares while I'm at it as suggested.

Otherwise you could go see Cameron at Blue Reef Yachts on the Gold Coast. He's the man for Mac parts 8) Mail orders too I believe.

Hi Barry,

I second Paul's suggestion. My spreader bar was broken too during rigging :( and mailed order it from Cameron and save all the troubles on trying to get some thing else that I still have to work on it and I see it important to get the original part :)

Awesome :)
Thanks for letting me know about Blue reef Yachts guy's. I will give them a call today and get a new pair of spreaders sent up. Makes it easy.
