For those of you looking for a used 26X, here's one that you should consider. They have it mislabeled as a 1993 model as that was the year the trailer was made. It's probably an early model though that would need some updating. However, the aesthetics are outstanding and it comes with a decent trailer (the trailer being the major sore point for when I had my 26X). It's currently sitting at $7800. Does anyone know the history of this boat?

Must be an estate sale. The heirs, who don't know too much about the boat (1993?), are dumping it. (sail cover on above spreaders)

I wonder what that thing is in the middle of the cockpit? It looks like it was 'built in'. And that civilized looking table?

The "thing" in the cockpit seems to be a wooden table that is in its folded-down position. Nice looking design on it (inlaid ?), and plenty of other wood inside for those who like to maintain such stuff.

According to the posted hull identifcation number (HIN) the boat is a 1995 model built in May of 1995.

When the Rudders are up he can only head straight because of the swim platform. Very nice wood work ideas. I saw a Shop Smith demo and Lowes tonight....Hmmmm

On Pic#7...Has he extended the walkway into the v-berth?

Certainly an interesting boat, painted non-skid on the deck, cut down rudders. The first time I've ever seen a back porch mod extended into a swim step that extends aft of the transom.

The notch into the vee berth is also interesting, although I don't really see the point other than easier access to the storage underneath. It does look like well done glass work. The galley looks pretty messed up.

Yeah, it almost looks as if it was done that way from the factory. Also, the grey topside areas also looks factory like some of the previous Macgregor models. The HIN shows it to be 26X #33 and maybe it was an early model configuration or even a late prototype?

Just a guess - that walkway into the v-berth HAD to be early factory design, because it looks way too good for an owner mod. Also noted that the jib tracks are outboard at the stanchions, another indicator of the early design. Hull number 33 .... she's a true classic!

Pretty sure it is a mod, I never saw a V berth setup like that and I started looking at Macs with hull #3 & #5. By #33 it would have to be a production boat. I bought #64 (both are E595). It would take a lot of work but not much money to "ship shape" it. He probably disconnects the rudder / motor connection with the rudders up.

Did you notice at the aft end of the swimming platform are dinghy davit hooks. An interesting solution to the dilemma of dingh stowage.

Fascinating boat. Almost every shot has a hey look at that! Anybody know what is happening in shot 14. Is that a valve for air. Next to it looks like a wooden rudder.

The valve can also be seen in shot 11.

If this boat could talk I'd bet it'd have a lot of tales to tell.

The winning bid was $11,401.00. Quite a few bids - an indication of considerable market interest in these boats.

That v-berth looks like somebody found a use for the cooler liner after installing an oversize cooler or fridge.

I agree with Duane about the grey on the deck, it looks like a rubber base non-slip painted on surface. The valves may be for fuel tank selection.

Maybe whoever purchased it will post here & we'll get more info - There's gotta be more that can't be seen from the pictures - an imaginative person with a lot of time on their hands owned that boat

Was anybody able to save the mod photos of this boat. My computer would not enlarge the thumbnails. I would really like to get a closer look at the swim deck and some of the other mods done to that boat.
