Lets keep discussion to new trailers only, not refurbing of old path. I will put a link to these discussions in this lead off post.

Motivation - I thought I was in the market but will likely refurb my old one into a tandem to get 5 more years out of it. It is surprisingly difficult to gather all the options together

Open format - please feel free to post what you bought and how it worked out. If you choose to price, please provide date of purchase too, next door to price - for example:

I know you are asking for prices of "new" trailors only, but we had our refutbished which may help your with reference to new pricing. We had exactly the same tonge rust issue you had and looked at new but decided to go refurb.

- (2000) factory steel trailer
- new 3" steel tongue (8' long)
- new springs
- new wiring
- brakes re & re
- sandblasted, primed and painted
- new bunks and carpet

I am having a new custom trailer built with all the gizmos: dual axles with electric brakes on all wheels, side bunks, tool chest, LEDs, etc. for 4,200 CDN + tax.

I had my old trailer modified with a second axle and an extra cross-member for $800. I was going to put it on Kijiji and Craigslist for $1500 but if you are interested PM me for the Macgregorsailors.com discount. It's in good condition but surge brakes on one axle only and an unequal "drop" on the linkage that puts a lot of weight on the hitch. I should have had the axles moved forward to compensate.

I could run on the old trailer for years but with the family in the truck and a lot of long-hauls I decided to go brand new just for the peace of mind. If it was just me and my wife towing I would never splurge for the new trailer but I just REALLY don't want to have an "event" with the young boys on board.

I'm confused. Are you looking for new trailers or refurb.

Seems like a waste to put money into something that will only get you 5 years.

Tandem galvanized, regular brakes - $3295 + tax. This is Ontario Canada.

Ditto. Just bought new tires for the Tow Beast - going into winter, I did not want any problems with the kids on board.

What about the new tattoo trailer? Seems nice aluminum/galv. steel parts. I understood that the will fit on a trailer with minor modifications. See here: http://macgregorsailors.com/forum/viewt ... 28&t=23524

You might be able to construct a trailer from parts supplied by http://www.easternmetal.com/boat_traile ... ation.html. It looks like they can also build a trailer for you.

I think the position of the bunks will make it harder to load the boat. Also, the boat will be sitting quite high. This will limit the number of ramps where you can launch or will give problems launching at low tide. Also, this trailer does not have the ladder which I use all the time.

The aft end of the tongue is a problem as the bow of the boat can hit it at launch / haul. I tried mounting a roller there but it collapsed at first launch. Currently have a boat cushion tied there - works good. I want to fab a V-support there for a better solution.
