Sheared off wheel lug
Hi all, anyone know where I can source a replacement wheel stud as I've sheared one off trying to remove a rusted on wheel nut.

Re: Sheared off wheel lug
The wheel studs used on Mac trailers are a pretty common part in most auto parts stores - I'd check there first, since you're in Australia and BWY is in the US and shipping to you will be both time consuming and expensive. And if one stud is sheared, it's likely the rest haven't far to go either... I'd take off the hub, bang out one of the studs (better: use a press) and take it to a local auto spares place and see what they've got to match it. Then replace all of them and the nuts... it's cheap insurance. Torque them to only 90 ft/lbs (using a torque wrench) using a cross-pattern sequence and if you must use some kind of lubricant, use only a light film of oil. Anti-seize lubricants will greatly impact (reduce) the correct torque capacity for the studs and a specific setting would be hard to determine, so I generally advise against it. Over torquing or uneven torquing can lead to broken studs, seized nuts and warped drums or rotors.

Good catch Kevin. I didn't look to see where he was from before posting my reply...
