So next weekend I am spending 3 days on the boat specifically to cruise up and down the coast at the 2 mile limit looking for them. I was parked on my motorbike yesterday at Mooloolaba beach watching them about 1.5 miles off shore breaching, awesome but time to get closer. Hopefully I will get pics and post them here if I do.
Cheer Dennis.

3 weeks ago I was sailing overnight in a mates 36' Ketcht from Gold Coast Seaway and at 6:30 am were off the top of South Stradbroke Island. It was rough sailing in heavy seas and a big blow. Two humpbacks completely breached us about 50m astern. My camera was in the V Berth. Quite an experience. Saw one in South Africa that actually landed on a yacht demasting it before sluithering off into the water again. Take care and enjoy - at a distance!
